"Come as a Guest leave as Family" Kismet is a unique Inn with many accommodations. This one is special; self standing, artistically handcrafted using drift wood and right on the beach! Just 70 '/20 meters from the sea, and it has its own patio! Private kitchen and a bath house next to it with a hot outdoor shower. Unique experience in a Garifuna style cabana, please note it is a rustic build with open windows, mosquito net, fan, WIFI and the slow rolling waves right out your door. This beach cabana is directly in front of the beach 70 feet / 20 meters to the shore. Has a private porch. A hot outside shower next to it. It has a small kitchen with refrigerator and 2 burner stove and a small eating area. A confortable double bed with moskito net and private bathroom.
At Kismet Inn the sign reads, “Come as a guest. Leave as family.” Host Tricia lovingly creates an atmosphere facilitating that, each night cooking a delicious meal to both nourish her guests and bring them together. Often the food has been freshly caught from the Caribbean sea. She was careful and creative with our dietary needs. She wants her guests to feel at home and get what they need. She helped us get to snorkeling on the reef, and can arrange other excursions as well. We stayed in a rustic cabin that was perfect for us. We had all that we needed: stove, fridge, bathroom. Shower was outside with hot water. Location is gorgeous: dwellings on the beach 30 feet from water’s edge, sunrise and moonrise cast dancing light over the water, many seabirds, lullaby waves lapping onto the shore. The ocean there was great for swimming with a soft sandy bottom sloping into the sea. If you appreciate the richness of natural beauty, good food, and friendly people, we recommend Kismet Inn.
Loved the place, Tricia and Elvis are such lovely hosts, kind, welcoming and make amazing food - don't miss Tricia's delicious breakfasts! A host of friendly oddballs populate the place, and it felt like a home away. Tricia is great also in sharing her wealth of info on how to get around to various spots around Hopkins, recommending people to learn drumming with, really felt like I got a wealth of info from her for travelling through Belize on a shoestring budget. THe place is also an artist's haven, every corner providing inspiration of some sort.. the beach is beautiful also.. The room I stayed in was a bit musty but I imagine all the beach rooms might come with these issues, overall i highly recommend the place!
Hopkins has a ATM, Satilight Clinic, police station all in the middle of the village . A local Hopkins bus. Leaves and returns twice a day.
Hopkins people are a garifuna culture. They drum all the time, a way of having fun and communicating to the people.
I always say. "Hopkins is a small drinking village, with a slight fishing problem".
I have 4 working bikes I offer my bikes to get around the village. There is a local bus only 4 blocks away that leaves at 7am and at 2pm out of the village to catch other buses going south, to Placentia or Punta Gorda, north it will take you to Dangriga's hub, you can catch buses going north and west. That village bus returns from Dangriga at 10am and 5pm. There is airport in Dangriga that you can fly out of. Maya Air or Tropic Air.
