We ended up cancelling our booking and re-booking elsewhere on the first day. The actual location of the property ended up being 2 miles away from the advertised location, the property had a noticeable smell, there were stains on all of the bedding, stains on the mirrors, stains on the ceiling of the bathroom, used tissues on the floor, what looked like cigarette burns on the towels and we saw multiple cockroaches in one of the rooms. All of the fire alarms in the property also had their batteries removed, making it seem like people had been smoking there. The host was very pleasant to communicate with initially, but unfortunately we were completely let down by the absolute lack of hygiene and mis-selling of the location of the property. For the host: Aside from the hygiene, please ensure to advertise the right address for the property. It's unacceptable to find out your accommodation is in a completely different location once you receive your check-in instructions.

Unfortunately this stay did not work out for me and my family, which was a shame because the apartment was nice and it could have been so much better. Lots of issues which ultimately resulted in us finding alternate arrangements after one night’s stay. Specific issues: - late receipt of check in instructions resulting an hour delay to planned check in and disruption to our schedule - on arrival greeted by a summons notice stuck to the front door - on entering the flat we were met by the cleaner who had clearly not had time to complete her duties - pizza box and contents left in the oven and grease all over table and TV remote - smoke alarms all missing batteries - guest bed broken which resulted my son falling out of bed in the middle of the night - bath towel stained or dirty - external front door lock broken. Yes there was a lockable internal door to access the flat but no different to a bathroom door with a simple key lock, which clearly is not secure in any shape or form.

All the fire alarms were open and the batteries were missing. This made us very nervous. Could use more towels in the bathroom or a rug for stepping out of the shower. Very bad smell in one bedroom that permitted our suitcase. Couldn’t get rid of it even with open windows.

Shayara was a great host. Apartment as described. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
