This has had to one of the best or the best Airbnb I have ever stood at. Evening we super clean & if I needed more towels & sheets they were readily available
If there were windows to the outside it would have been amazing. There AC was in blast when we checked in and it took a while to warm up. The location was great, spotless and clean, roomy furniture, definitely felt like home, awesome kitchen and work area.
Astorga is a vibrant, quiet and peaceful part of Poblado, Medellin.
This neighborhood was only one of the more recent neighborhoods to start to take off, and due to it's proximity to Provenza, Manila and Lleras Park being so close - it's been carefully curated into a higher end neighborhood of restaraunts, cafes and places to stay. You will be literally minutes away from the action, but *just* far enough that you won't be disturbed by it or hear any of it when you want your peace and quiet to chill at home.
Astorga is a quiet and residential neighborhood, and it's known for its peaceful atmosphere, tree-lined streets, and beautiful architecture.
Travelers seeking a more tranquil and local experience will find Astorga to be a great option. The neighborhood features a few incredible cafes, one just around the corner that has what I consider to be of the best coffee in the whole city, cool restaraunts and a vibe that is restful yet on the edge of the fun.
You are only a few blocks from Calle 10, and just across it is Manilla.
Manila is another attractive neighborhood in Medellín, known for its mix of traditional Colombian culture and a growing expat community. It offers a variety of restaraunts and services for travellers like a large shirt optional gym, barbers, rooftop cafes, a diverse array of food from different cultures. Street art, trendy cafes, and boutique shops.. Manila is a banging neighborhood! Trouble with staying in Manila itself though.. is it's noisy.
In Astorga, you can walk there in a few minutes, and remove yourself at night to return to peace and quiet.
10 minutes up the street is Provenza:
Provenza is the most trendy and hip neighborhood located in Poblado. This area is often called the "Zona Rosa" of the city because of its vibrant nightlife and numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants. Provenza is also famous for its colorful, artistic murals that adorn the streets. It's a fantastic place for Airbnb travelers who want to be at the center of the action and experience the city's nightlife. It's a place to visit though, and not one to stay. It carries a heavy and intense party energy, and it's a great place to go to eat some top class cusine or party, but definitely not a great place to pick an Air Bnb where it's expected to get any work done.
You're just minutes away from Exito Poblado, one of the biggest grocery stores in the city which also has a HUGE home goods section of soaps, shampoos, clothes, fitness wear, cookware, electronics, and pretty much everything you can think of.
Walk a few more blocks and you are at Monterrey Mall. The electronics/computer hub of Medellin. Any issues with your phone/computer - take it here to get it fixed. Need anything phone/computer related? Go to Monterrey to find it!
You're on a good transitional point here for Uber rides around the city as well. It's easy to get to Laurelles, Belen, Santafe Mall or San Lucas. So this area is a pretty clutch area to stay in - literally walking distance from action/cafes/restaraunts but far enough away you have peace and quiet from it.
You are going to really love this location, especially if you've stayed around Poblado before and want to be close to things, but not too close.
In Poblado, Medellin travelers have several convenient options for getting around, including Uber, Didi, InDriver, and private drivers provided by their Airbnb host. Here's a description of how each of these options works:
Uber and Didi:
Uber and Didi are popular ride-sharing services available in Medellin. Travelers can use these apps on their smartphones to request rides to their desired destinations. Here's how it works:
Download the Uber or Didi app from your smartphone's app store.
Sign up for an account and input your payment details.
Enter your pickup location and destination.
The app will provide you with information about the driver, the estimated time of arrival, and the fare.
You can choose the type of vehicle you prefer (economy, comfort, etc.).
Confirm the ride request, and the driver will pick you up at the specified location.
** IT IS HIGHLY ADVISED THAT ALL TRAVELLERS USE EXCLUSIVELY DIDI OR UBER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!**
While Taxi's are convenient and usually safe, you do not have any guarantee of a driver who is bound with his license to an application, so if anything goes missing you have no recourse with a taxi. As well with Uber & Didi, your payment is secured through the app. There is no possibility of higher false fares or counterfeit money being transacted - which taxi driver's in Medellin are famous for.
InDriver:
InDriver is another ride-sharing service that operates slightly differently from Uber and Didi. InDriver allows users to negotiate fares directly with drivers.
To use InDriver:
Download the InDriver app and create an account.
Enter your pickup and drop-off locations.
Drivers in the vicinity will receive your request and make offers with their suggested fares.
You can choose the driver and fare that suits you best.
Confirm the ride, and the driver will pick you up.
Private Drivers
We offer the service of private drivers to their guests. Travelers can book a private driver for individual trips or on a daily rate for greater flexibility and convenience.
To arrange for a private driver through your us:
Contact your host on Air Bnb to request the contacts for private drivers.
I have several trusted and preferred drivers I can put you in contact with to directly schedule your desired trips, these drivers are also available for day rates should you wish to have a private driver who is yours for the whole day. These rates may vary, but typically 100K to 150K COP per day is what you could expect to pay a driver to be yours for the whole day. This rate is inclusive of driving around Medellin, if you were wanting to take a long trip outside of the area to nearby cities like Guatape, Jardin, and Santa Fe de Antioquia, it would need to be discussed with the driver to negotiate a rate for such a trip.
Private drivers can offer the advantage of personalized service and can take you to multiple destinations in a single day, making it convenient for day trips to these picturesque locations.
