In the heart of the historic market town of Old Amersham, dating back to 1580 is the boutique, recently (2021) renovated and period Hops Cottage (given its name from the old hop house and brewery next door). The flat is on the first floor with large vaulted living area with mezzanine, full of light with windows on two sides and in the roof. The property still retains period features including original oak beams. Converted with luxury and comfort in mind, its makes for a memorable stay. The entire property is newly converted with boutique and luxury fittings and furnishings throughout. You'll have two fantastic social spaces including a plump leather sofa within the sitting area of the open kitchen, which also has a lovely breakfast bar. There is a further peaceful lounge area on the mezzanine floor with comfy armchairs and large smart TV, perfect for relaxing with a glass of fizz or cup of tea after a day out walking the beautiful Chiltern countryside. When you're looking to put your head down for the night there is a large, super comfortable king bedroom accompanied by an ensuite shower room. Next door is another cosy double bedroom with views across the orchard and Misbourne river. There is separate bathroom, which has a lovely big bath. The layout is ideal for small families, two couples or even a couple who prefer having the space to themselves. The kitchen facilities are all new and include a super Bosch induction hob, oven and separate microwave. The living area has a built in sound system so one can stream their favourite music service just from their phone. There is plenty of storage space in the main bedroom in addition to the downstairs lobby area for jackets, brollies and boots.

Accommodation was excellent, you definitely get what you pay for. On street parking, I wouldn’t recommend trying to park inside the gates. All shops, restaurants and bars within touching distance . Free tea and coffee plus cleaning products. Comfortably warm and water always hot. I would highly recommend. Think the keys need to be labelled as had an issue trying to match correct key to the door. Also the Yale locks turn opposite to what you expect.

A beautiful upstairs flat with mezzanine lounge area in Old Amersham- 50 steps to local pub and also overlooking a stream at the back. Stunning interior and decor which was exceptionally clean. Very convenient for all the amenities of Old Amersham which is a beautiful market town.
Lovely flat in a mews street set just off the high street in a great location with easy parking. Very clean and well-stocked with tea, coffee, etc.

Old Amersham
Old Amersham is a charming ancient market town, full of character with lovely old houses that date back to 1450. The Amersham Museum, in a 15th merchant’s hall, is worth a visit - just 50 meters east of the flat. The Market Hall dates from 1682.
Historically, Amersham was a centre for the Lollards, a religious movement following John Wycliffe. They first arrived during the 14th century and preached barefoot in the streets. By the 16th century, the movement was taking over the town and many followers were burned at the stake. Their memory lives on in the Martyrs Memorial, up the hill off Station Road.
A five minutes’ walk east down the High Street takes you to the award-winning Old Amersham Memorial Gardens opened in 1949 to commemorate the fallen heroes of the first and second world wars. Also visit St Mary’s Church, a beautiful medieval church dating back to 1140 (John Knox preached his last sermon here before fleeing abroad from the wrath of Queen Mary).
The rich blend of heritage buildings, lovely gardens, many fabulous restaurants, and lots of independent shops, combine to make Old Amersham a delightful place to visit.

Hawkyns by Atul Kochhar, in The Crown Hotel, 16 High Street – Michelin starred pan-Indian cuisine
Pluma, 18 High Street – wonderful Spanish tapas restaurant, perfect service, great courtyard dining in the summer
The Artichoke, 9 Market Square – Michelin starred restaurant, innovative and refined modern European cuisine featuring the best of the season’s ingredients – including many foraged from the surrounding area.
The Griffin, 12 The Broadway – fabulous restaurant, great atmosphere, outstanding food and drink, friendly professional service
The Swan, 122 High Street – spacious pub with casual and more formal dining, great Sunday roasts, log fires, garden
Shops
There are many lovely independent shops all along the High Street that are well worth visiting. Enjoy a slow walk browsing the shops along both sides of the High Street.
For general provisions and petrol:
Tesco Superstore – turn left out of Maltings Mews, Tesco is 10 mins walk / 2 mins drive east along the High Street. Open 0600-2400 Mon-Sat, 1000-1600 on Sunday.
Tesco Petrol Station – 2 mins drive east along the High Street
The Grocer, 2 Whielden Street - local grocery store, freshly ground coffee, tasty take-away menu, great selection of groceries, fresh bread, cheese, wine, charcuterie, fruit & veg.
Public Transport
Train – Amersham Station, Station Approach is a 3 mins drive / 24 mins walk up the hill, the last stop on the Metropolitan Line, also on the Chiltern Railways train service. Marylebone Station is c 45 mins, Baker Street Station c50 mins.
Taxi – we use A2Z Taxis in Amersham – efficient, reliable, good value service.

Parking is free (unlimited time) at our end of the High Street
