Enjoy a luxurious experience when you stay at the Manor! Book just the Tower Suite bedroom or add the lovely room next door if needing an extra bed. The luxury bathroom and toilet is private and adjoined but also accessible from the hall. If you love sea views, bespoke architecture, a cooked breakfast in the Manor dining room, a summer outdoor pool and a great location, perfect for breaking up your drive down the coast, then we think you'll be enchanted with Kingsdown Manor's Tower Suite! Beautifully finished rooms with arched windows and high ceilings. The Tower bathroom/ensuite has a modern soaker tub, a large glass walled shower, views over to the sea and each room has views over the back garden and to the ocean beyond the neighbouring farm. You can make your own coffee/tea in your room and come downstairs to enjoy your breakfast in the lovely Manor dining room which has a warm fire on cold mornings. Mel will supply you with either a continental or a cooked breakfast which you can let her know your preference upon check in.

If you’re after a treat this is a wonderful place to stay. Mel and Greg are really lovely and the Manor was gorgeous. Not too far away from Timaru.

Mel was an awesome host, communication prior to arrival was excellent, the rooms were beautiful and very well equipped, the beds were very comfortable, the grounds were picturesque and breakfast in the morning was outstanding. We really enjoyed our stay and would have loved to stay longer. Thank you Mel, we look forward to staying again some time in the future.

Timaru has it's own very airport. This is only 25 minutes away from Kingsdown Manor. Timaru is 2 hours south of Christchurch and 2 hours north of Dunedin. Lake Tekapo is just over an hour away. We have a bustling town of about 30,000 people. There is a beautiful family area at Caroline Bay with plenty of activities for all ages. There are little blue penguins which come in at night and can be viewed for free down on the right hand corner of Caroline Bay. Ask me about the coastal walk/bike trail just down the road. A perfect day trip from here is to go and see Riverstone Castle, just 45 mins down the road from us. Timaru has caves with ancient Maori drawings which makes a fascinating day trip. Timaru means place of shelter and we mostly have very settled weather here and not a lot of rain. You can see stunning mountains from our road often laden with snow from July to late October. Great cafes and restaurants are not too far away and we can make great suggestions from gourmet to casual/family friendly.
You will need a car. There are intercity buses going each day if wanting to connect with another city without a car. There are taxis but it is a good idea to book in advance.

Greg and I are happily married and now our three adult children have emptied the nest, we sought a new adventure! We recently moved to Kingsdown Manor to experience the joys of living in the South Island and to set up the existing unique buildings from which to earn a living. I own Ash and Ivy Artisan Organics which is focused on creating the most beautiful organic skin care with local ingredients and will soon be sold on the premises. We're delighted to be living in Kingsdown, only 6 minutes drive from town, but still with a lovely rural feeling. Timaru is a gorgeous town and and is NZ's best kept secret! There is so much to do here and the locals are very friendly and caring.
