A perfect homebase for friends, groups and families seeking relaxation or adventure in the beautiful Blue Mountains. The Sandbox House is an idyllic retreat for families, friends or anyone looking for a serene mountain getaway. A masterpiece of mountain architecture, with its glasshouse-like design creating a seamless connection between the indoors and nature. The recycled timber-clad interiors, spacious open design and soaring ceilings create an elegant gallery-like space, boosting the sense of tranquility and relaxation. Large windows flood the space with natural light, offering views of the leafy surroundings from every room. It's very good for big family. It is very cozy, convenient and well-equipped kitchen facilities. Especially very very good for taking a photo ! 😀
The place has lots of potential but needs to be stocked better (for example, 1 small kitchen knife). A house guide would also be useful for guests (convection stove was a bit tricky to figure out). A few other minor maintenance issues to deal with during our stay as well.

The Sandbox House is conveniently situated, offering easy access to the charming town of Wentworth Falls and its stunning waterfalls. Wentworth Falls Lake is just a short drive away, providing a lovely spot for a picnic, playground fun, or maybe a dip in the lake during hot weather. Explore the neighboring towns of Leura and Katoomba, known for their shops, galleries, and delectable dining options. Don't miss out on visiting the renowned Scenic World and the iconic Three Sisters, both just a few minutes drive away.
Easily accessible from Sydney by car on the Great Western Highway, with off-street parking on the driveway and plenty of free street parking.
The house is also only a short 5 minute taxi ride from the Wentworth Falls train station. Trains arrive and depart for all villages and towns of the Blue Mountains as well as central Sydney.
For guests without a car who want to do lots of sightseeing, we recommend the "Blue Mountains Explorer Bus" that stops at all the villages, lookouts and major tourist attractions in the Blue Mountains region. You can buy a ticket just outside Katoomba train station.
