* beautiful 20 minute drive to downtown * This broody cottage is the perfect spot to get away from it all! Mornings waking up under cedar ceilings, lunches cooked on the patio, and evenings spent on the screened-in porch - is there anything better? Talking Water Nature Retreat is on the top of Chattanooga's Suck Creek Mtn. Whether you prefer to hike through Prentice Cooper State Forest next door or kayak down Suck Creek, Mother Nature has graced this area with a little something for everyone! Blackbird is 1/4 of the "Songbird Neighborhood" at the newly-created Talking Water Nature Retreat. Talking Water is a family-run business located on an 82-acre strip of land, a mile of which runs along Suck Creek. Our family has worked tirelessly for the past year to repair damage done to the land and make it better than it ever was. Part of this plan includes recreating hiking trails across the property. Our primary intent is to host large groups (up to 25 guests) for family reunions, friend trips, business retreats, religious/club gatherings, etc. We have created this space for people to come together while also maintaining their privacy. There are 4 cabins, Chickadee, Whippoorwill, Goldfinch, and Blackbird. Each include their own sleeping (for 6-7), full indoor bathrooms, outdoor showers (available from last frost to first frost), cooking (full kitchens plus outdoor campsite grills), lounging (patios, porches, and decks), and indulgences (such as electric fireplaces, tv, wifi). At the center of the neighborhood is the Songbird Pavilion. The pavilion features an outdoor kitchen with an electric griddle, sink, and cabinets. There is a firepit, chairs, benches, and tables. Also, nearby are the slide, tetherball, and hiking trail. The guest laundry and games/extra toiletries are available a short distance away in the garage. Cabins may be rented individually or as a collective (one listing for 4 cabins).
Had a wonderful stay. It was clean, beautiful and spacious- not too cluttered. Our kids loved the swing and the top bunk, so fun. Will stay here next time we are in town. Can’t say enough good things, it was exactly what we were looking for!
if you need to hit the reset button like we all do every now and then you need to stay at this place just the fire pit alone sometimes is all you need to turn into a better person
We had a lovely time at this unique place that Bobbie has crafted. Would heartily recommend ❤️
Super peaceful and private space! Even got to meet a friendly puppy!! Also the trail down to the Blue Hole was super fun and the destination was definitely worth it! My friends and I will definitely be back!
Talking Water Nature Retreat is a fulfilled dream of the Sonner-Such family (John & Karen Sonner, Ken Sonner, and James & Bobbie Such). We have purchased an 82-acre mud-pit on the top of the mountain and are doing our best to bring back greenery and eclectic style.
Suck Creek Mountain is a rural community of families. To our south is the Prentice Cooper State Forest. To the east is a 1-mile strip of Suck Creek on our property. The Tennessee River runs along our road at the bottom of the mountain.
You will want a car - or at least a bicycle! It is a 10-12 minute car ride down the mountain to get groceries.
