We had the most fabulous time at Paul's. We really appreciated the quality of the environment, the access to local walks, the location. The space easily accommodates 6 and although we were never that number, we felt the house was brilliantly apportioned to do so.
My friends and I loved spending time in this cosy, welcoming home set in breathtaking surroundings. It gave us great access to all the walks we wanted to go on, such as Mam Tor and the Bleaklow Bomber crash site. I received all the details I needed in the days running up to the trip, and was able to access the home easily. Everything was clean and comfy and we felt at home. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The house is conveniently located for lots of fantastic walking right on your doorstep. The hill you can see from the front of the house is called Whitely Nab and you can walk up to the top and see wide reaching views of Glossop and beyond. If you turn left out of the house you can head down to gnat hole farm where you walk over the brook and up into the little woodland. From here you can also access open moorland. You could do a wonderful circular route of about 4.5 miles taking in Wormstones rocks (visible from the road outside the house) Harry Hut (trig point) shooting cabin and back round again. For a longer walk you access the Pennine way and onto Kinder Scout or down into Hayfield.
The field next to the house is referred to by locals as the dog walking field, as everyone lets their dogs round around and have fun here. There are also a couple of short circular dog walking routes from here. In the summer you can also see people sitting having a picnic admiring the view!
There are a couple of parks in Glossop, Manor Park and Howard Park. Manor Park has a children's adventure playground, a duck pond, skate park, a little train that goes around the park and small shop where you can buy ice creams in the summer. It is also where the local park run is held. Howard Park is a bit further out of the town centre and is where the local swimming baths are located. There is a small children's play area, duck pond and flower beds.
There is free, on street parking for up to 2 x vehicles
