‘Suigetsu’ machiya holiday house: A traditional Japanese house located near Gion & Kiyomizu Temple. Bask in the beauty of this traditional Japanese house while enjoying the convenience of modern comforts. The 1F features a relaxing living and dining room with garden view, as well as a kitchen and bathroom. The 2F has two Japanese-style bedrooms with traditional earthen walls and tatami floors. One bedroom is fitted with a western-style double bed while the other will have futon floor beddings. Lovely, quiet, safe neighborhood. Central location for what we wanted to visit. Perfect for a couple, but not the best for privacy if there are more people. The 'bedrooms' are "traditional". We did not know what that meant. The stairs going up to the bedrooms is very steep and finished so that they were a bit slippery. Use bare feet only! , Using the restroom at night was difficult. The stairs enter one room, which you must walk through to reach the 2nd room. This may be traditional, but it is not a Western traveler would be accustomed to. We were 2 friends traveling and so moved a futon downstairs to be near the restroom! Then one of us slept upstairs. Garden area is very lovely. We recommend this for the right people. Not a good choice for families with children, because of the steep and slippery stairway!

La casa es muy bonita, bien ubicada y corresponde con las fotos. La estructura de la casa y su funcionamiento (armarios, puertas correderas, etc.) es ideal para parejas pero no para más huéspedes.
We had a wonderful stay , very responsive front desk .. the day we landed was wet & rainy in Kyoto and were able to check in early since the residence was ready - very appreciative of this .... location was residental & private , very cute setup of rooms , loved the beds and bathrooms :)…. & literally a 5 min walk to ‘Engyo-ji’ shrine ! Will stay again

During your stay at this traditional Japanese house, you’ll be within walking distance to the famous Gion area to the north as well as Sanjusangendo Temple to the south. To the east, you have easy access to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site Kiyomizu Temple & the Higashiyama area where Kyoto's most famous shrines & temples lie.

You'll not only have convenient access to both the subway and bus system, but will be within walking distance to visit all that there is to see and do during your vacation.
■FROM KYOTO STATION BY TRAIN
Approximately 19 minutes by Train:
1) Take the JR Nara Line bound for Joyo
2) Get off at 'Tofukuji' Station and transfer to the Keihan Main Line bound for Demachiyanagi
3) Get off at 'Kiyomizu-Gojo' Station and exit from Exit 4.
4) Walk to 'Suigetsu' machiya house (Approximately 7 minutes on foot)
■FROM KYOTO STATION BY BUS
Approximately 15 minutes by Bus:
1) Take the Kyoto City Bus #206 and get off at "Gojozaka" bus stop
2) Walk approximately 4 min. to 'Suigetsu' machiya house
■FROM KYOTO STATION BY TAXI
Approximately 9 minutes (Taxi fare is approximately 1,000 yen to 1,200 yen)
*You can get to Kyoto station from Kansai International Airport by JR Express HARUKA line (approximately 80 minutes by train)
