Hamara Lodge is a former 18th Century Hunting Lodge located on the Glendale Estate in North West Skye on the Duirinish peninsula. With stunning views over The Minch towards the Western Isles, you are ideally situated to explore the rugged landscapes, cliffs, coastlines and outstanding scenery which make the Isle of Skye so unique. Set in a quiet, peaceful location, enjoy our tranquil surroundings, fantastic sunsets and dark starry nights! Located at the end of a private driveway, Hamara Lodge provides spacious accommodation throughout. Kitchen/dining room, living room with open fire and seperate dining room on the ground floor leading upstairs to bedrooms/bathrooms on the upper floor. Our four bedrooms sleep 9 with the addition of a cot (two rooms with double beds, one room with double bed/cot and the final room with one double and one single bed). Enjoy relaxing in the large walled garden to the rear of the property or taking in the sea views from the front. We are dog friendly (two dogs maximum, see dog policy - surcharge applicable).
Beautiful period house with glorious views over fields full of sheep and lambs to the beautiful bay. Lots of space for our party of 5 adults and all the equipment needed. Very comfortable and relaxing. Jackie was very helpful and responsive even getting one of the two shower units replaced within a couple days when it failed so that we suffered no inconvenience. A really enjoyable stay.
Hamara Lodge was even better than the pictures showed! We felt at home as soon as we got there - the house was really clean and tidy, and very spacious. The photos from the property of the views didn’t do them justice - just wonderful! We visited a lot of different areas around the Island every day, and the house was so welcoming after long walks/hikes. Having two bathrooms was a godsend! Being able to bring our dog with us on holiday was perfect, it wouldn’t have been the same without him! Having both a washing machine and a tumble dryer was a huge benefit as we all got very soggy on most days! I’m very thankful to be going home with clean, dry clothes. No Aurora sightings this time, but we will hopefully see it when we come back again at some point in the future
Ideally situated for a short walk down to Hamara Bay; check for when the tides out for a lovaly walk along the beach but also great when the tides in as you often get to see the seals.
A short drive to Neist Point Lighthouse, you are also only a 10 minute drive to the world famous Three Chimneys restaurant, 20 minutes drive to Dunvegan, with Castle and Gardens and a variety of shops and restaurants, including The Old School House. Reservations are best made in advance as they are often busy especially during peak season.
With Portree a 50 minute drive away, hosting shops, restaurants and boat trips. and further afield to the stunning Old Man of Storr and Quaraing.
Our peaceful surroundings are what make the Lodge such a special getaway but we do have a fantastic local shop and post office (open Monday to Saturday all year, Cafe Lephin (open during the day March to November) and Chidakasha Vegetarian Restaurant (open three nights a week during peak season. Please check their websites for more information.
Fishing permits are also available for fishing on the River Hamara where a catch and return policy is in place (£10 for a one day permit ot £30 for a week - please contact us directly to arrange).
There is a limited bus service in the area, however a car will be needed due to the remote location.
