Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. The master bedroom offers a king sized bed and comes with an en suite. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed with views into the valley and of nikau palms. The spacious high ceiling lounge opens out through sliding doors to a patio with outdoor lounge and dining with BBQ facilities. Inside on the top level next to the lounge is a remote office workspace with valley views and a fully equipped kitchen.
We had an enjoyable stay with everything we needed. It is on the main road however with double glazing you could hardly hear the road. The walk down to the beach is along the road but should not be an issue - probably not for little kids. Only issue we had was figuring out how to use the oven - would assist with instructions as too modern for the four of us! Otherwise fully recommend a stay.
The house truly lives up to its beauty showcased in the photos. Lareen and David are wonderfully attentive hosts, and their responsiveness is commendable. We did notice that the shower could have been a bit cleaner, which was a slight disappointment considering the considerable cleaning fee.
Great stay and the house was just as described with all the necessary facilities in very good condition. Would love stay here again!
Nestled into the valley overlooking the Onetangi Reserve and just a short (12 minute) walk down to Onetangi Beach.
Onetangi is well provisioned with cafes & restaurants along the stunning beach, and shops / service station a block back from the beach. Several vineyards and the golf course are also within walking distance.
There is a double carport available for off road parking.
There is a regular bus service (50A/50B) to/from Onetangi beach and on weekday evenings (5/6/7pm) the special 50A Piemelon Bay bus service comes up the hill past the house. Buses require an AT hop card (you can purchase in the city or at the ferry terminal).
Taxis are relatively expensive on the island (typically $45-50 from/to the ferry terminal or $20 up the hill from Onetangi beach / shops) but will be necessary if you have luggage.
Walking down to the beach is a breeze, but you might want to consider taking a taxi / bus back up the hill, especially if you have had a long day, or if it is getting dark. Walking paths / tracks west (to Palm Beach / Arcadia cafe or Onetangi Straight vineyards / Ostend), south (to Trig Hill / Batch Winery), or east (to Polderi Crisci) are good options for the energetic.
