Designed by REIS Architects and completed in 2023, the home offers the best of indoor/outdoor living, with views from every room, slide-away doors between the lounge and terrace, pool, braai, outdoor shower, yoga circle, labyrinth, and a stream running along the eastern edge of the property. Eco-friendly and fully off-grid -- no load-shedding! Less than 1 hour from Joburg and just 9 minutes from Magaliesburg. Alarm system with caretaker on site. Light-filled and spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living area with slide-away doors on both sides, leading out to the courtyard and terrace. Dining table seats 10 comfortably, with an additional 10-seater table on the terrace. Well-equipped kitchen with gas oven and five-burner hob, two refrigerators, dishwasher, washing machine, and plenty of cookware, dishware and utensils. Main bedroom is a dream, with a king-size bed, two basins, indoor shower, outdoor shower, bathtub, and fireplace. Guest bedrooms are smaller but still spacious, all with comfortable queen-size beds. Three bedrooms open directly onto the garden, and the fourth has a bay window looking out onto the garden, all with views toward the stream. The 12m saltwater pool is perfect for swimming laps or just hanging out--there's an underwater bench running the full length of one side.

Booking this stunning property (a short distance from JHB) set the stage for an unforgettable experience. Excellent communication from our hosts ensured a seamless arrival. Our large group, including eight adults, a toddler, and 2 dogs, found the spacious, modernly furnished house beyond perfect. The art-filled interiors added sophistication and vibrancy. Isaac, the caretaker, was a highlight, preparing and serving delicious meals that allowed us all to unwind and cherish our time together—worth the extra fee. The pool offered leisure and fun, while the lack of a TV promoted meaningful connections and activities, enhancing our digital detox. Walks in the tranquil surroundings with our dogs were blissful. We departed rejuvenated, already planning a return to this stylish, family-friendly haven. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Forty Acres is the perfect, short getaway destination from Johannesburg. The sunrises and sunsets are out of this world. It’s an incredible place to rest, relax, and recharge. The house is beautifully furnished and has all the modern amenities, making it a perfect, off-the-grid luxury getaway. The design is well set up for friends or a large family, and when you’re there, you can see and feel that so much thought and care were taken into creating the space. Grace and Isaac are warm, friendly, and helpful. And the bonus, Isaac is a trained chef; it was wonderful to have the option, for an extra fee, for him to prepare meals from the food we brought. Forty Acres is the perfect vacation getaway if you’re looking for a place to unplug, unwind, and escape the city without flying or traveling far.

The house is less than a kilometre off the main road R400 near the R24 intersection and only a 9-minute drive from Magaliesburg, which should have whatever food and supplies you may need. The town has grocery stores, liquor stores, petrol stations, clothing stores, a hardware store, sit-down and fast-food restaurants, etc.
