The property ascends from the top of the mountain to the banks of an arctic river teeming with salmon. The valley is in the 'Aurora Belt', is protected from city lights and gets very dark, making it ideal for Northern Lights viewing when the skies are clear. It is for this reason that this valley was chosen for the EISCAT International Research station to study the Aurora and other space phenomenon. When you travel this far north into the arctic circle, staying outside of the city and the surrounding suburbs is an unforgettable experience that lets you soak in the raw nature and experience the Northern Lights without the light pollution in the Tromsø area. It is very much the same as seeing stars from a dark desert compared to seeing stars from a city. The house has a private outdoor 5-person jacuzzi that offers a serene retreat in the crisp arctic wilderness where you can lounge in warmth while gazing at the distant alpine silhouettes, listen to the crackling of the frozen wilderness, and perhaps glimpse the whimsical dance of the Northern Lights. The retreat boasts seclusion with only one other home in sight on the hill opposite the Arctic Route, but is also a stone's throw away from several local attractions. Dog sledding at the Aurora Base Station, Sami culture at Tromsø Lapland, and the world's northernmost golf course, Tromsø Golfklubb, are all just a few minutes drive away. The house is also only a five minute drive from the ferry to the Lyngen Alps, making the location a central basecamp from which you can explore the entire region while never being too remote. Freshly remodeled in late 2023 for the first time since it was built in the early 1950s, the Blue Moose Retreat House offers four bedrooms upstairs that comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. The home exudes Norwegian charm with a single traditional bathroom downstairs with a shower, sink and toilet. Two bedrooms feature queen-size beds, another is furnished with a full bed and bunk beds, and the last offers bunk beds with the option of a baby crib or guest bed. An extra sleeping nook can be arranged with a convertible couch bed in the living room downstairs. All together, up to 12 guests can be accommodated, depending on the sleeping arrangements and your needs. The living room has 3 couches, a table that can host a large meal, and a high fidelity sound system and TV. Above the table in the living room are 3 LED panels that light up the living room for the dark periods, making it a cozy place to relax and absorb precious time with loved ones. The newly remodeled kitchen is equipped with all the necessities for cooking meals for the entire group. Climate comfort is achieved with individual electric heaters in each room, forced air heating and cooling in the living room, and a wood-burning stove in the living room for those who seek the warmth of a rustic embrace. Connectivity is seamless with free high-speed cable internet throughout the house.
