Beautiful spacious home full of character and charm. Located in historic University hills in walking distance to campus (1 mile to stadium) and LSU lakes (1/3 mile), the location can't be beat. This family friendly neighborhood is a welcoming place. Enjoy eating/laying out on the patio, dipping in the hot tub, strolling the streets, lighting the fire pit in the large fenced backyard, or gel out on any of the house's multiple TV's. 5 beds, 3 baths, 2 couches, and tons of indoor/outdoor seating
Collins was responsive and friendly. He was helpful with our early check in. House is in an older, quiet neighborhood. Online maps images of house and neighbors are current as of 2024, with addition of new wood privacy fence at hot tub. House is in need of some maintenance which Collins is aware of.
The price was great, especially since it's in a pretty neighborhood that feels safe and welcoming. A great space with three bathrooms and room to sleep a lot of people! The water temperature is a little tricky, but overall things were cozy and comfortable.
This house in University Hills is the perfect place to go for anyone traveling to Baton Rouge. The location perfectly encapsulates the magic of Baton Rouge for those who know it. It is in a beautiful, old, charming, peaceful, and serene area in town that just brings you into a world that people love. Baton Rouge natives and those with such fond memories will understand. Mr. Meredith offers to share a piece of that with you here. His house is even better than the pictures. It is charming house that has been modernized to give you both warm feelings of charm and the old world while also giving you all of the comforts that you want on vacation. Perfect location in a beautiful neighborhood, very close to LSU. A wonderful place to walk around. The hot tub is game changer, especially if you want to have fun with your friends. Mr. Meredith was responsive and very nice. It was my first Air B&B experience and I am so glad that I had it here! I definitely look forward to staying here again!
University Hills was once part of the large farm of the Denis Daigre family, hundreds of acres that extended from the present-day south gates of LSU to past Lee Drive. The subdivision, which has over 200 residences, is located three blocks from LSU just past College Town.
In an article on University Hills in South Baton Rouge Journal, writer Annabelle Armstrong describes University Hills:
It is laced with Centennial oaks and winding, sloping thoroughfares overlaid with leaves — an aura reminiscent of a small town. Wildflowers on lawns and shaded naturalness, with slightly unkempt lawns here and there, make a statement that life has more to offer than exquisite grooming. The overall park setting has charm.
Architecture varies widely, from a towering French chateau some call a castle to a secluded, end-of-the road, 1,000-square foot cottage with a front screen porch.
The neighborhood is friendly and often you will see people walking, jogging, biking, roller blading, or strolling their dogs. The first street to the neighbor hood has a median seperating ingress and egress with beautiful oaks and a sitting area. The entrance of the neighborhood is on highland road, which has sidewalks that traverse all the way to LSU Campus as well as the LSU lakes allowing walking or biking safely all around LSU and beyond.
