Tomo is a very kind and accommodating host. His home is a a very beautiful and traditional japanese house set in the mountains. It was very snowy and cold during our stay, and Tomo made sure we were very comfortable. I would recommend using a car to get around.

Absolutely gorgeous house and surroundings. It takes a while to go to Takayama and back, but if you have time/a car, this is an amazing pick.

Tomo san is a great guy, very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me with lot of recommendations around in Takayama, made sure I felt like home and always checked on me to make sure I wasn’t in any problems/trouble. He also offered to pick me up from the station if there were no buses due to snow. Very home like atmosphere and he is very keen on serving everyone with all his heart. He also offered us the amazing irori Japanese cooking experience and arranged dinner/party for us. The place is perfect for anyone who wants to get away from the city bustle and relax. The nearby area is pretty scenic and easily walkable. Buses run every hour to takayama and hidafurukawa, so accessibility is also not a problem. I loved the overall vibe and atmosphere of the amazing guest house. I highly recommend this place to everyone and wish to revisit again.

Tomo-san's beautiful traditional home in the mountains of Gifu is as picturesque as the photos lead you to believe. The area is gorgeous and the locals are exceptionally friendly. As a host, Tomo-san always has recommendations ready about the area, the culture and way of life. This can get quite involved, but it's well worth the experience you'll gain. Some tips: 1. Ask if you should bring a contribution along if you'd like to join Tomo-san and the other guests at dinner. It will be greatly appreciated in addition to the main dish. 2. The nearest train station is quite far from the guesthouse. If you have heavy luggage, I suggest taking the bus from the station. 3. Plan bath trips to the nearest onsen. As the guesthouse does not provide a bath, you should visit one or more of the many nearby bathhouses. They are in the 500-600¥ range, and Tomo-san provides info about all of them. I had to cut my long-term stay short for personal reasons, but I'm sure to return in the summer.

人気観光地の飛騨において、安く泊まれる宿です。 周りは静かで一昔前の日本の家での生活を体験できます。 何点か気づいたことがあります。 奥まったところにあり、夜見つけるのは難しい場所です。 また古民家なのでいろいろな部分に注意する必要があります。 まずシャワーがないので、基本的に近隣の温泉に入ってくる必要があります。 隙間が多いので季節によって日中も夜も虫がたくさん入ってきます。部屋に殺虫剤やゴミ箱を置いたり窓に網戸をつけるなど最低限の改装をしてほしいです。 寝室は2階にあり重いスーツケースで来る場合、持って昇り降りするのは大変です。 間取りも特殊で覚えるのに時間がかかります。 以上のことを踏まえて安く泊まりたいなら良いゲストハウスだと思います。
