The location and security were excellent. It was easy to get around in terms of transportation. The apartment is close to a shopping mall, ocean, hospital, and restaurants. unfortunately, My family struggled because the power outages happened too often. They have a generator that could be used in case of a power outage but they did not run it for hours for the reason that it was too expensive to run it all day. Other times I was told that someone went to buy petrol because the generator was empty and it took a couple of hours before they could run it. It was a huge inconvenience for me because I work remotely online and I could not get any work done. Also, My kids could not do their homework online either because the Wi-Fi was always interrupted.

Highly recommend, the apartment was very clean and spacious. Every room had an en suite bathroom and air-con. The kitchen has everything one needs, and there is fast and reliable Wi-Fi. Very close to lots of shops and food outlets/restaurants, and the beach is 5 minutes away.

No elevator!!! However apartment is spacious and in great location to restaurants, grocery, ATM, mall and beach. AC and WiFi worked well.

The host was responsive. It was slightly tricky to locate the building. Upon entering, I was surprised to find out that the flat was actually on the 3rd floor without any lifts. We checked in quite late (around 7pm) and it was quite dark on approach. We both had two luggages each so it was a real struggle getting those to the front door although the guard was helpful. The apartment is a great size though. Internet seemed very fast with an office area in the living room. Two good size rooms for adults with a third room with 2 single beds. The kitchen had all the essentials. Unfortunately for us, by 9am the following day, our experience nosedived. We experienced a power cut. Initially, we panicked as we had received a welcome message by the host with instructions about topping up the electricity. I found this to be very strange. These were the instructions in her message…Just a reminder to check the electricity reading if you have used the ACs for an extended period. You can check the balance by pressing 006 on the white meter remote next to the lamp on the small coffee table next to the 3 seater couch. In order to recharge you will need to buy a token by quoting the meter number. I usually start guests off with 100 units and depending on consumption the units can last up to three days. Just for your information the apartment has 5 AC units and 3 water heaters, so it really comes down to how long these appliances are left on during the day. The guest is thereafter expected to replenish in relation to usage. The meter number is xxxx. You can request one of the guards to purchase it for you from an agent. Do let me know if you need any further clarification. I have stayed at multiple Air BnBs including a couple in East and West Africa and I have never come across this before. Anyway, considering we had hardly stayed there for 12 hours and hadn’t used the AC, it would have been a massive surprise if we had used up the electricity units. We contacted the host. In the end, it turned out that it was indeed a power cut and the generator was switched on within 30 minutes. However, as we were working away in the office area, it happened again at around 1300. Except this time, it was an awful lot longer. An apartment without electricity in a hot and humid country is clearly not the one. We decided to try the pool but unfortunately, it looked pretty gross, almost brownish. At this point, we had to resort to using personal hotspots to continue working as we waited and waited for the lights to be come back but to no avail. After nearly 4 hours, I decided it was perhaps wise to start looking for alternative accommodation just in case. The lights then came on. Then it went off again. At that point, we became exasperated by the whole ordeal and went ahead to make a booking elsewhere, inform the host that we can no longer tolerate what was happening. We had to pack our stuff in complete darkness at this point. I contacted Air BnB support. After we had finished packing, the lights came back on. Then off again. We had to exit in darkness. We relayed all this to Air BnB support but In the end, the host still decided to charge for one full night plus cleaning fees on top. This was grossly unfair considering our awful experience but I guess as customers, we are of not of utmost importance. Overall, it was a place with so much promise and great reviews before we got here but it wasn’t to be for us. A great shame as we wanted to check out the Mikocheni area properly after being in Masaki.

A+! Aida's huge apartment comes complete with a swimming pool and first class internet. We were on a family holiday visiting relatives who live in Dar so we needed somewhere centrally located, close to facilities and which was big enough to allow four very active young children to play, play and play. The cost was very reasonable and competitive and we will certainly be back next year :)
