Return home after a day on the beach to explore the surrounding countryside. Whether you’re admiring the view from the patio doors in the lounge or going for a stroll along Ilfracombe Harbour (5 miles), there’s something for everyone here. The interiors are cosy and welcoming, with quaint features like exposed beams and a pretty open-tread staircase that leads up to the bedrooms and shower room. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy it at the dining room, chatting about your plans for the rest of the week, or get the BBQ on and have an al fresco meal out in the enclosed garden. Active guests will love the on-site tennis court and the games room that includes a football table. Pop just 2 miles down the road to the pub for a quick drink and bite to eat, or take advantage of the cafes, restaurants and chip shops in Ilfracombe. While you’re there, visit the aquarium, or take a boat trip from the harbour to wildlife-rich Lundy Island for a glimpse of seals, puffins or even dolphins. Other nearby villages include Saunton (8 miles) and Croyde (7 miles) both known for their sandy beaches, offering some of the best surfing in the country. Or head 5 miles to the shops and cafes of the large village of Braunton.
