To reach Askø, take the ferry from Bandholm. You can take the car with you on the ferry and park for free at the house.
Askø is connected with Lilleø via a dam. Both islands are beautiful throughout the year with clear water, old apple trees and child-friendly beaches.
Askø has a volunteer-run grocery store where you’ll find vegetables, meat and other daily necessities. In the farm shop on Lilleø, you can buy local wine, vinegar, cider and honey. If you visit in late summer or autumn, you’ll also be able to pick your own apples and pears to take home. When visiting in may or june, you can often buy fresh fjord shrimps.
Askø also has a small church from the 11th century. Next to the church is a museum with objects dating back to the time when Askø was a fully operating community with school, a local midwife etc.
If you visit with children, there is a playground and a large shared lawn for football, beach volley and other games on the island. Our children love seeing the hairy cows on Lilleø, swimming in the clear sea, and exploring the island. Also, Knuthenborg Safaripark is only a trip with the ferry away. And on Lolland, you’ll find lots of other activities for children (i.e. seal safari, Lalandia resort, and the middle age centre).
But most importantly, for us, Askø provides peace of mind, dark sky with shining stars, and birds singing in the morning. We hope you’ll experience the same during your stay.

Askø is a small, cosy island where everybody greets eachother - no large roads, perfect for walking.
