Nice place. Very cute and quaint. Kitchen was well equipped. TV included a Spectrum cable TV app and a huge selection of DVDs were available to view. Any guests considering this rental should be aware that the bathroom is only accessible through one of the bedrooms. This created a bit of concern with the other couple that shared the cottage with us.

The good - The place was very clean. It's an older cottage, but it does feel like there have been some updates (the windows, floors, bathroom perhaps) and the place was clean from one end to the other. The pictures are accurate and the description is mostly accurate (will get to that in a second). The general location was great for what we were looking for - a centrally located place to explore Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, etc. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. A large selection of movies as well. Also, the public access beach was nice as well. Our kids walked down and dipped in Huron a couple of times - but the water was cold!!! The bad - This place needs WiFi and it does not offer that. You need to be aware that you will not get general cellphone data reception at this location (as is the case in much of the U.P.) This was exacerbated by the fact that there was no WiFi at the cottage. As a large family we needed the phone/internet service to plan meals, day trips, get phone numbers to locations we might want to visit, check business or park hours and generally get directions to the next days events. This was impossible to do so one would have to leave the cottage at night and travel back into St. Ignace to do the planning, while calling the other on the phone. It was very frustrating. Which brings me to my other issue. I said the description was mostly accurate - the cottage is technically not in St. Ignace. It's in a little community of small houses and cottages just outside of St. Ignace and it's about a 5-7 minute drive to the downtown/harbor area. The ugly - The U.P. is known for its temperate climate and cool nights, especially by the Lake, but for some reason, when we would return from our day events, even when the high temps only reached 73-74 degrees, it was 85 degrees inside the house, and that was with all of the windows left open all day long. This place could use one well placed window A/C unit. It is small enough that it would cool down the entire cottage. The last night we stayed there, when I fell asleep it was 68 degrees outside and still 80 in the house. Made for miserable nights. They did have two fans that we put to good use though.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The cabin location and the amenities were excellent.
