Peaceful, cozy and semi-rustic. Our family enjoyed the yurt experience overall. The hosts were all very friendly. We ran out of wood to keep the fire going in the middle of the night, so it might be worth asking for extra wood. I think we would’ve enjoyed it more in the summer. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant was great.

Dobogó-kő is a hiking and holiday resort, the highest mountain in the Visegrád Mountains, 700 meters above sea level. The border between the counties of Komárom-Esztergom (Dömös) and the counties of Pest (Pilisszentkereszt) stretches on the top of the mountain. It became a popular destination at the end of the 19th century. The settlement on the hill is called Dobogókő and is administratively part of Pilisszentkereszt.
Due to the proximity of the Visegrád Mountains to Budapest and its built public road network, Dobogó-kő is extremely popular not only among competitive cyclists, but also among amateur cyclists. The hilltop can be reached by public road from Esztergom, Pomáz and Pilisvörösvár, and from Pilismarót by an asphalted forest road, typically by overcoming a difference in level of 500-550 meters.
Tourism and skiing have a long history in Dobogókön. At the end of the 19th century, the Hungarian Tourist Association, under the leadership of Gusztáv Thirring and Ödön Téry, began to designate tourist routes in the area, which was a suitable hiking spot thanks to its location close to the capital, the varied forest paths and the panorama.[1] One of the country's first tourist houses, the baron Eötvös Loránd shelter, was built on Dobogó-kő, which was handed over in 1898 based on the plans of József Pfinn. The larger stone building was built next to the wooden house in 1906.[1][3]
After the Trianon Peace Treaty, in 1923, the first ski slope in today's Hungary was established on Dobogó-kő.
The route of the National Blue Tour passes through Dobogókön. Today, the Tourist Museum operates in the wooden building of the baron Eötvös Loránd shelter, the stone building is currently a tourist house.
The Téry monument (work of Sándor Christián, 1926) commemorates Ödön Téry (1856-1917), one of the initiators of the Hungarian tourism movement.
Zsindelyes Vendégház, Imre Makovecz's first internationally renowned building, is located next to the ski slope. The shrine of the Virgin Mary for the deaf is located under the observation tower.
