Niamh was really attentive, friendly, and made me feel welcomed. It saddens me that I couldn't meet her personally. However, I was able to meet her dog Lila, such a cute and calm dog. Niamh's place is nice to stay in. The area is so quiet. I definitely will stay here again in the future if I'm around in the city.
Great value and very responsive host! Also provided many amenities. Great stay overall and cute dog
The North Austin Civic Association is a largely latinx working class neighborhood. Like most of Austin it is an interesting mix of building codes. The area directly west on Fairfield is suburban style houses that I love walking Lila through, along with a high school with a great track that's open to the public after school hours. While the area closer to North Lamar is more urban sprawl - mini shopping centers and apartment complexes. The main draw is the proximity to all the city's major highways and the near-highway and express bus route that is North Lamar, making travel to and from anywhere in or out of Austin a cinch. But don't sleep on some of the neighborhood's offerings either. You can hardly walk outside without running into an authentic taco truck - I have been told wonderful things about the several on the corner of N. Lamar, along with the Carniceria in the shopping center there. I can only speak personally about the excellent local vegan food, like Nissi VegMex just 5 minutes up 183 and their to-die-for birria tacos. West Anderson Lane, about two minutes south by car is full of trendy coffee shops (I recommend Epoch for imo the best coffee in Austin, and Genuine Joe for the best atmosphere), an Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, restaurants, a comic book store, toy store, sporting goods store and lots more. 4 minutes by car down North Lamar you'll find Black Star Co-op, a very popular pub and brewery, Vigilante, a gaming gastropub, and Fat Cats, my 2nd favorite vegan bakery.
