Samuel was a responsive host over message when I needed him, however unfortunately this was the only positive attribute to me and my family's stay. The main issue was that the entire house was filthy through out. The linen and towels were clean but that was it. Dust and dirt everywhere, filthy crockery and glassware requiring cleaning before each use, sticky patches of floors, a vape in the loo?! found a toenail on the landing amongst the filth, and we saw rats running around the garden every morning. Two of the "bedrooms" were inaccurately described, one is in the basement which was freezing, there was no indication on the listing that it was in the basement. The fifth "bedroom" was in an outside building in the garden, which clearly had past damp problems so smelt of mould, the dehumidifier provided was too noisy to sleep with on, making both bedrooms unfit for purpose. I raised these issues after my stay to Samuel, who explained he was let down by his cleaner.

Could not fault the host, very responsive and tried his best to accommodate. He has put his trust in his cleaner to take care of his property and keep it clean and he has been let down badly. Property had not been cleaned well. Very dusty, floors hadn’t been hoovered. The cellar bedroom floor had piles of dust and debris under the bed, it’s clearly been swept under the bed rather than hoovered up. Cooker, oven racks and trays greasy and had old food debris on them. The microwave, kitchen sink, fridge, kitchen cupboard doors clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Toaster was full of crumbs and burnt bits, the tray was so full we had to force it out. Skirting boards and furniture thick with dust. Cleaner had left Previous guests dirty bedding and towels on floor in utility room and in washing machine. Those guests had checked out the day before we arrived. Shower was covered in limescale and grime. Toilet had pee splashes on seat. Cleaner came to rectify and was full of excuses! Such a shame!

Had a great stay at Samuel's AirBnB - clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. Great spot in Bury St Edmunds!
