There were lots of good things about the rental: host was quite accommodating and responded quickly to messages, everything in the rental was very clean, and the neighborhood and view were lovely. The price was reasonable, especially for a large space in this expensive neighborhood. There was some traffic in the morning, but it was quiet and peaceful at night. Negatives: It was described as a “duplex,” but it was actually the upper floor of the hosts’ home. There is a separate entrance, but also carpeted stairs in the middle of the rental with (presumably) a door at the bottom. We could hear them sometimes, and they could probably hear us. It just wasn’t as private as we were expecting. It also would have been better if the sheets had been cotton, rather than polyester.

The house is in an excellent established residential neighborhood near everything in Hoover. There is ample parking for several cars on the loop driveway. The rental is the top floor of a house, with no steps inside the house but steep and uneven height steps (some with a hand rail) to get to the door. The valley view from back windows is spectacular, especially at night. The spaces were generously sized, match the photos, and furnishings and beds are comfortable and as shown. Some windows do not have shades, blinds, or curtains; they face the back and no one can look in, but that may bother some guests. The front facing windows in both bedrooms let in a lot of light through blinds from the street lamp and landscape lighting (necessary for the steps), and one of the back windows in the larger bedroom had no window covering at all. We needed a dark room to sleep, so that was a problem for us. No kitchen (yet), but the appliance description was accurate; the only sinks are in the baths.

Really comfortable and private location. The perfect place to come back to after visiting with friends. The views are incredible and so much wonderful hiking nearby. Hope to visit again.
