Chulilla is a beautiful little village situated in the Turia gorge. The village is built under the old medieval castle walls and consists of little alleys with white houses. From the house it's less than a 10 minutes walk down to the river Turia, nowadays a small stream with plenty of shady picnic spots.
Chulilla is very quiet during the week but every weekend the bars and terraces on the one and only village square fill with locals and (in season) foreign climbers.
In general restaurants only open at the weekends - apart from the climbers hangout and restaurant ´Goscanos´ which - from oktober till april - is open most days (they do fabulous pizzas and nice meat or veg burgers).
In the weekends I recommend El Pozo restaurant and Las Hoces del Turia restaurant (both splendid).
Chulilla is a climbers heaven and also very popular with hikers. Its a childrens paradise as they can play on the square, build dams in the shallow river, swim and play in the lake or pool (summers only) or visit the playgrounds. It's common to see kids racing down a little ramp on the village square at night time while their parents are having a drink on the terrace of one of the bars.
There are two bakeries, two minimarkets, a tabacco shop, a butcher, a pharmacy and a drugstore in town. The suburb La Hermita has a credit-card-pay petrol station. The ATM is located inside the building of the tourist info, opposite the entrance of the latter.
The nearest supermarket, Consum, is in Villar de Arzobispo, 15 minutes by car grom Chulilla.
Every Thursday morning there is a little open air market at the village square where you can buy fruit and vegetables, kitchenware and (not very hip) clothing.
The village school is in the same street as Casa Turia. You will hear the children play outside at break time.
You also hear the church bells, although the house is not too close to the church.
There are lots of fiestas in Spain and the village has it's own celebrations in Match, May, August, September, December and January. They tend to be lively and noisy!

The house is 5 minutes walking distance from the square and parking.
Some climbing areas are at walking distance (between 10 and 50 minutes). Most people take the car to get to the Oasis/Pantano crags.
Although I don't advise it, it is possible to access the house by car to offload luggage. I do recommend to first walk to the house from the parking to familiarise yourself with the very narrow streets.
The nearest parking (less than a 5 minutes' walk away) is the "Barranquillo" parking. I can send you a pin to find it.
Public transport to Chulilla is very sparse. In season there is one school bus a day you could hop on after making reservations, but it's complicated. There is a bus twice a day from Valencia bus station to the nearby town of Losa de Obispo. Check schedule online. From Losa you'll need to hitchhike. The nearest metro station is in Llíria. All in all its best to rent your own car to get to Chulilla, head to the climbing sectors and supermarkets.
Chulilla is a 45 minute drive from Valencia airport and some 50 minutes away from Valencia city (worth a visit!!).
