Easiest 5 stars. After a long day of travel we SO appreciated the light local snacks, cold water and other drink options in the fridge. It was such a nice welcome. Everything about the place was amazing, well stocked and very clean. Also, appreciated the extra travel toiletries available. The area is perfect. Walkable to a strip of shopping and great restaurants, also walking distance to beautiful beach views. Great for families and small children. Cara had a pack and play with bed sheets available and ready for us. There was such a cute park down the street that my kids loved. (Though close, we did drive to it because of one very steep hill.) We will definitely book here again whenever we come back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Surf Shack! Somehow, Cara's home manages to suit a family with a toddler while still looking and feeling so utterly cool. As a parent, it's nice (and rare) not to have to make this trade-off when traveling. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered and designed. The location is unbeatable, with the best shops, restaurants, and scenic lookouts within ~2 blocks. We loved navigating on foot/stroller each day. I know Encinitas very well, having spent many summers here, and I never imagined that I would get to stay in such a central location. Thank you, Cara, for assembling a beautiful welcome package and responding to a few questions throughout our stay. Hopefully we will be back one day!

Cara is a wonderful hostess and made us feel so welcomed with her extra goodies waiting for us in the kitchen. Her place is lovely and quiet. Beds were SO comfortable! Loved all the amenities were convenient as well. We are already planning our return visit!

Cara's space was bright, beautiful, and spotless, which made for a relaxing and comfortable stay for our family. It had everything we needed—and then some. We were so touched by the handwritten note and local goodies that Cara left out for us on the kitchen counter. Beautiful beach lookouts just blocks from the house, and quick walking access to shops and restaurants along the 101 were awesome. We were bummed that a few of the nearby beaches were under "construction" (seasonal maintenance we think), but Cara was helpful to recommend other beautiful, family-friendly beaches close by. Would totally stay here again!

Loved this little Encinitas getaway! So well stocked and Cara is super responsive. The family and I loved our stay.
