Villa Azul is in a peaceful countryside hamlet called ALVISQUER, yet just a 15 min stroll to the nearby village of Conceição de Tavira.
CONCEIÇÃO DE TAVIRA is a quaint village, just a 10/15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive from Villa Azul. Here you'll find several typically Portuguese bars, that also serve the most delicious foods at value for money prices. There's also a Post office, a couple of shops, beauty salon, hairdressers, laundrette, Benamor Golf course and the train station where you can catch a train to take you along the whole of the Algarve
CABANAS DE TAVIRA is the local sea front village and is a lovely 40-45 min walk or just a 5 minute drive. Here the natural beauty of the Ria Formosa splits the land and you can catch a boat across to the miles of beautiful sandy beaches. Here you'll find an abundance of bars and restaurants to satisfy any appetitie, there's gift shops, a local indoor fresh produce market and lots of activities that you can do such as boat trips, canoeing, paddleboarding, paddel, tennis and boules.
TAVIRA is the absolute gem of the Algarve. A beautiful old Roman town with so much charm and history, there;s so much to see from Tavira Castle, to the many beautiful churches to many typical Portuguese tiles buildings. There's a large indoor fresh produce market and an outdoor flea market held every Saturday morning. From the riverside you can catch a boat to Tavira island or book a boat or fishing trip. There's a good size shopping centre with a wide variety of shops, cinema and restaurants and for the more culturally minded there's several museums, art galleries and of course the famous Camera Obscura and a fabulous interactive science museum, great for the kids.
FURTHER EAST - You can even pop into Spain while you're here as the lovely town of Ayamonte is only a 20 min drive away from Villa Azul. Along the way there are some glorious beaches with amazing Portuguese restaurants or visit the Salt Spa and Mud Baths, near Castro Marim.
FURTHER WEST you can find the typical holiday resorts of Albufeira and Vilamoura and the airport at Faro is just 30-40 minutes drive away. There are also waterparks and the fabulous ZooMarine less than an hours drive away.

We have free parking on-site at Villa Azul.
Street parking in Conceição and Cabanas is also free. Car Parks in Tavira are free and there's a mixture of free and charged on-street parking available - look out for signage.
There is a train station in Conceição de Tavira, where you can catch a train to take you along the whole of the Algarve. There's also frequent buses from Conceição.
Car hire is available but can be expensive in the summer months. There are plenty of local taxis and we're happy to help you arrange any transport you need.
