Several pros & cons about Waterman’s Daughter. Cons first (I like to end on a positive note): -The images in the AirBnB listing suggest it’s a water snippet view unit with yard space and access to a pier. Although we expected to find one house behind the unit, we were disappointed to find upon arrival that there’s a second house being built directly next to the first (almost entirely obstructing the view), no pier access, and limited space between the surrounding units. -It’s hosted by a rental company, Chincoteague Resort Vacations, not an individual owner. Read the rental agreement and Yelp reviews of the company to know what you’re getting into. You can probably get a better deal booking directly through the company. -The company has its own app for check in and check out (they don’t send your check-in or check-out info through AirBnB), which is annoying—didn’t need another app on my phone! -The unit had very little in the way of amenities. No beach chairs or park passes, or anything of the like. It also lacked some basic items—the bathrooms didn’t even have hand soap! It also didn’t have staple household appliances and cleaning items that you typically find in an AirBnB like this, such as a vacuum or broom, hair dryer, or cleaning spray/wipes for the countertops. They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels (or pay $200 for linen service), but they should have specified that most items would not be provided. Pros: -The unit was clean, light-filled, and spacious. Despite the construction, it was still really quiet inside the house. We were comfortable during our stay. -The unit had solid HVAC and indoor temps were great despite scorching heat outside. -Check-in was a breeze with the keypad lock. -The unit isn’t far at all from a bike rental place, Main Street, and the park entrance, making the local attractions easy and quick to access. -One of the representatives stopped by to drop off goodies for our fur baby. That was really thoughtful! -We accidentally left an item behind after checkout, and it was easy to work with the after-hours crew to get back to the unit to pick up the items and get back on the road.
