We enjoyed our 3 night stay very much! The cottage was lovely and we enjoyed a BBQ on the Terrace with an amazing view of the river! The weather was great so we spent our days by the pool… amazingly tranquil! Went above and beyond to give us a life to the railway station, after our check out time - thank you Tom & Sietske :-)

We really enjoyed our stay at Swan River Cottage. The view from the terrace is beautiful looking right out onto the river - it was so peaceful there. The cottage had a nice mix of modern amenities with traditional features and felt very homely. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. The main centre of Lalinde is within 3-4 minutes walk and there is a big Intermarche just down the road. A few things to be aware of are that the cottage faces outwards onto a reasonably busy road with not great pavements. There is also no parking directly in front of the cottage but across the road in free of charge public spaces. A few little things in the kitchen like salt, pepper, oil, tea & coffee would’ve been nice. However we did arrive to a complimentary bottle of wine which was much appreciated! Overall a brilliant stay and we would definitely go back :-)

Très belle maison avce une terrasse privative sur les bords de la Dordogne. La maison est entièrement équipée. Les propriétaires sont disponibles et très réactifs. Très bon emplacement pour découvrir la région et l accès à la piscine est un vrai plus.

A very short break in the lovely town of Lalinde. The cottage is situated on the road into Lalinde; away from the main estate. Everything was within a very easy walk; supermarket, boulangerie, restaurants, market, banks, etc. The cottage has lots of crockery, glasses and cutlery which is always greatly appreciated and reduces the need to run the dishwasher too often! Very comfy double bed with nice linen and towels. The terrace was huge with a lovely big table and direct view of the river. Water pressure in the shower room was very good. It was lovely having the comfy chairs downstairs and nice touches such as extra pillows, if needed, and a welcoming bottle of wine. It was hot whilst we were there, and the net covering on the windows was a welcome addition to keep any mosquitoes out as we had the windows open. Sadly we were not there long enough to use the Weber barbecue, but everything is there and it’s ready to use. We enjoyed the upstairs seating area with the TV. The Queen died just before our stay, and we had not unexpected to be able to watch the UK news in the evening and have access to BBC iPlayer (as well as other channels such as Netflix). Overall, a very comfortable and well appointed cottage. I hope we will be able to return.

We had a lovely time staying at Swan River Cottage, and the welcome from Tom and Sietske was lovely and warm. The place was ideally situated for wandering into Lalinde to visit one of several great boulangeries, the restaurants or the weekly market. And the proximity of the Dordogne river was wonderful, with some perfect places for children to paddle or fish with nets. I would thoroughly recommend it. There were some slight negatives though: there were a lot of mosquitoes in August (we had to keep all the doors and windows closed if we wanted to stay safe, which isn't ideal in the heat), and Swan River Cottage is on a main road, so there is some noise from the road at night. The gite is also part of the same building as the neighbouring gite (which would be great if you were renting them both together) but with just one of them, expect to hear a little noise through the adjoining door from the neighbours. The outside space can also be shared between the two gites, so your neighbours might be out there at the same time as you.
