We came on a particularly hot weekend, and our site was one of the few with absolutely no shade, which was rough. (Including pictures of the actual site would help.) It also would have been nice if they had explicitly said there was no access to drinking water. The camp sites are pretty close together, and noise from neighbors carries. Not everyone respected the “no noise after 10pm” rule, but we didn’t complain, so that’s on us. The kayaking was great, and the kayaking staff was very friendly and helpful.

My two positive notes are that one: 30 bucks is a reasonable price for a campsite. Most are around that price range. Two: the staff was friendly and helpful. Why I only gave Kayak Starved Rock 3 stars is because, based on the amount of emails I was sent regarding wavers, and rules I was really annoyed when I was kept up all night long because of a huge party going on next to where we were set up. These guys were blasting their music well past 10pm, and then some of them talked at full volume throughout the night. They didn't get asked to quiet down because there wasn't anyone there to ask them to be quiet. So, the emails warning to be asked to leave if you break the rules were obviously meant as protection to the company and not about the comfort of the guests or the family environment. Also, compared to other places we had camped in the same week, it wasn't as nicely maintained, but it we normally stay at State Parks. I think all the emails set up a different expectation.

Wonderful spot! Plenty of privacy and like check out to do activities in the morning

This campground is awesome! Staff is really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend renting a Kayak, the river is beautiful and the equipment is well maintained. Would 100% camp here again!
