300 meter from the cottage you will find a special tourist attraction: a 60 ton rocking stone, Ruggesteinen. Even a child can easily "lift" it 5 cm.
There are two spectacular hiking routes on Bolga, both marked with blue painted stones or pillars.
One follows the mountain ridge from near the harbour to the top of Bolgtinden. If you are an experienced climber, you can take a shortcut directly down to the cottage.
The other route crosses under the mountain ridge through a hole, Bolgbørra, and you follow the coastline westwards on the north side of the island, then turning south, passing the Ruggesteinen back to the cottage.
Near the harbour you have the grocery store, and near by, at Bolga Brygge, you will find a nice tavern and the fish landing building where you sometimes can buy fresh fish (in case you don`t manage to catch your own). In the tavern building you can machinewash clothes and take a shower, at the cost of kr. 50 for each.
Bolga is surrounded by more than 300 islands, islets and skerries which enable exciting kayaking tours. You can also attend kayaking courses at Bolga.

You arrive at Bolga by the Express boat going regularly between Bodø and Sandnessjøen, once a day in each direction, twice during the main summer season. You can also board from Ørnes.
Several times a week you can arrive by a local boat or the car ferry from Ørnes.
When you leave Bolga, you have the same return possibilities by boats to Ørnes, Bodø or Sandnessjøen.
