Kirkwood · 整套公寓 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · Base Camp 20 Hub at Kirkwood
Come enjoy our little Kirkwood hideout close to the lifts but tucked away in the Base Camp complex. We do not offer internet so unplug and relax! We do allow your furry friends to join you though! Our condo sleeps 6 and is great for young kids. Pet friendly Kirkwood Paradise waiting for you to enjoy! This pet-friendly condo is not only steps from the lifts but also alongside the dog friendly cross country trails that circle Kirkwood Meadow. Complete with 1 queen bed in a private bedroom and twin over twin bunk beds in the living room along with a sofa bed, this is perfect for a small family who wants to simply have a place to sleep after a hard day on the slopes. Base Camp was the first building complex to offer accommodations at the base of the mountain in 1972 and remains one of the most convenient settings to call home. Wood burning stoves and generously sized decks and porches combine homey mountain comfort with a sense of being in nature. You won’t find elevators and heated sidewalks here, but you will find relaxation, quality family time, and a great bang for your buck. Base camp takes you back to the basics of ski resort lodging--just footsteps from 5 ski lifts, 2 restaurants, shuttle stops, shopping, and the cross country trails, this complex is one of the most conveniently located within the Kirkwood valley. Many families choose these residences for their laid-back ambiance and family friendly snow play areas. A coin operated washer and dryer are also available. Keep in mind that during the Winter this condo gets very dark due to the large amounts of snow that accumulate outside the windows which is totally normal for a first story Kirkwood condo. Full Kitchen with dining table for 4, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, basic pots and pans, dishes and silverware. We provide linens, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Coffee, coffee filters, paper towels and toilet paper to get you started. Long term bookings should bring your own extra supplies. Flat Screen TV with DVD and VCR; has wifi, NO cable
Would not recommend or stay here again. As soon as you open the door there was a bad odor. The beds were uncomfortable. Felt very small. No natural light due to building design
Get this place because you want to be right across from the lifts. The bunk beds were rock hard, and the kitchen was adequate.
Kirkwood Mountain Resort is home to some of the best snow in the western region. What nobody knows until they spend time here is the wonderful summer hikes waist deep in wildflowers and the 20 lakes within a 5 mile radius. This is family fun for all ages and a serene get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If the outdoors is on your mind and nature is what’s prescribed, then visit Kirkwood to regain your sanity. Our close community is friendly and before you know it, you’ll be part of the Kirkwood family.
History ~
Zachariah Kirkwood, a cattle rancher who had settled in the area, opened an Inn, named Kirkwood`s, in 1863 with the opening of the Amador/Nevada Wagon Toll Road, the primary route through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The following year, Alpine County was created and the redrawing of the county borders placed the Inn at the convergence of Alpine, El Dorado, and Amador counties (the borders were later changed so the Inn is no longer in El Dorado County, but the original signpost marking the intersection of the three is still in the building). Eventually, the Inn became a fashionable summer resort.
After Zack`s death, the Inn stayed in the family and continued to operate until 1966, when it was sold to an investment group, who then converted it into the present-day Kirkwood Mountain Resort. The original building (still standing) is registered as California Historical Landmark and now called The Kirkwood Inn.
Guests will want to have a vehicle of their own.
