A super brick and flint modern semi-detached house, tucked quietly away in a prestigious development of just five properties located on the western edge of the thriving, ever popular village of Burnham Market, and only a short walk away from its busy hub and many amenities. With all the convenience and comforts of contemporary living, this lovely house is the perfect choice for a family or two, as well as couples and friends, looking to enjoy a relaxing, laid back holiday in one of Norfolk's most popular villages. Set over three floors, The Goosebec features engineered oak flooring, luxurious underfloor heating, a Neptune hand-built kitchen and Roco sanitary ware all complemented by calming, cool styling throughout. On the ground floor guests can gather together to cook, eat and chill out in an airy open-plan living space that's flooded with light from a glazed lantern roof and full width bi-fold doors that peel back and allow the room to extend out into the garden, bringing the outside, warm air and birdsong in. For anyone requiring a quieter space, perhaps for studying or home working, there's a snug at the other end of the house, which doubles up as an alternative place to watch a film or one of your favourite television shows on catch up. Upstairs on the first floor, are two mega comfy en-suite bedrooms (super-king and king-size) and then further up on the second floor are two full-size twin bedded bedrooms sharing the use of a family bathroom. The house has the bonus of a large, private and fully enclosed garden, with views stretching across fields to the grounds of Westgate Hall in the distance. Just the place for a catch up sharing a bottle of local wine, as the sun goes down on the day. From The Goosebec it's an easy, level walk into the village, enabling you to have the choice of staying, eating and buying everything 'local' from the butcher, fishmonger, bakery and delicatessen as well as a much-loved long-standing village hardware shop that also sells veg. If you feel like a treat and decide to eat out you can do that too - there's an excellent selection of places to choose from. If, and when, you feel the need to explore further afield, you can still stay eco-friendly if you wish, and catch the Coastliner bus to the coast and neighbouring villages, some of which are also accessible on foot for keen walkers and their energetic dogs! Additional Information: Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). Pillows and duvets are synthetic fibre. Please bring your own pods for the coffee machine (large size). The electric vehicle charger is a Type 2. Travel cot, high and stair gate are all available (please request at point of booking). There is CCTV at the property.
Public review Goosebec in Burnham Market is a new house with a very high spec of fittings and furniture. It is a comfortable holiday home with parking at the house ( a rarity in this village!), a pleasant garden and outlook behind the house and situated within a 5 minute walk of the centre of the village. Everything exactly as the listing photos! Kitchen very well equipped and lovely to use. The heating was fine for us but others might find it a tad cool, especially in the winter. There is unfortunately a large and very active building site right next to the house, so we kept the windows closed and were not disturbed. Norfolk Hideaways responded very quickly to an issue we had. All in all a lovely week away in Norfolk !
Burnham Market is often regarded as the loveliest village in Norfolk and is close to the North Norfolk Coast.
The village is one of the seven 'Burnham's' and has a range of niche shops including a delicatessen, Tuscan farm shop, wine merchant, butcher, greengrocer, fishmonger and various beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops. There are also hard tennis courts and a fine parish church.
The village is centred around a green of mainly Georgian houses and there are some fabulous restaurants for you to enjoy during your stay.
For great dining try Socius; or stroll down to Twenty9 where they cook your food over an open fire pit imported from New York no less!
The Hoste Arms offers plenty of charm and character and both informal or fine dining and you can choose to eat in their front or back restaurant or outside in their sunny terraced garden. The Hoste Beauty Spa, also in the village allows you to enjoy some well-deserved pampering during your stay.
Head to Burnham Thorpe to retrace Admiral Lord Nelson's steps or Brancaster Staithe where Nelson first learned to sail.
Enjoy the beaches at Brancaster or Wells where you can enjoy sunbathing in the sandy dunes or pull on your walking boots and enjoy a coastal walk to Burnham Overy Staithe where you can watch the boats or catch a boat to secluded Scolt Head Island, one of North Norfolk's best kept secrets.
Don't forget to visit Holkham, considered the best beach in the UK and where the closing scenes of Shakespeare In Love were filmed.
With numerous stately homes; including Houghton Hall; Felbrigg and Blickling and of course HM The King's Sandringham residence to visit, you will adore the variety and natural feel this wonderful coast offers.
Immerse yourself in the birdlife at Titchwell, Snettisham or Cley-next-the-Sea reserves, or of course Pensthorpe where you can enjoy a wildlife safari.
