We had a lovely week stay at Orlando's place. He and his family are very kind and relaxed. The location is beautiful in the peaceful valley of Ribeira da Torre, and very convenient for doing lots of nearby hikes. The kitchen makes it easy to cook and we loved the bananas and papayas that Orlando's family shared with us from their gardens every morning with breakfast. Ribeira Grande is an easy walk downhill 20 mins or so, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants as well.

Great personal space in Orlando's house (with its own entrance) to rest after a day of hiking on the island. Incredible scenery from the bedroom. Really good location for hikers, as you could start some beautiful hikes right when you step out the door. Also, the nearest town is 25 minutes walking, from where it is easy to find cheap transportation to anywhere on the island. Orlando is a great host, willing to help out with anything, and even prepares a nice breakfast every morning.

I had a wonderful stay with Orlando & family. Apartment is an independant wing of the house with own entry. Location is amazing and good starting point for trips to all directions. Walk to Ribeira Grande in 30 minutes or if lucky you can hop on a collectivo. Hike to XôXô is beautiful, hike from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha or vice versa is breathtaking... Orlando can give advice about these activities. You get breakfast every day. wifi is good. Basic apartment in friendly environment with everything you need. I absolutely recommend this apartment!

Orlando’s house is lovely in such a beautiful location! So peaceful surrounded by mountains & few other houses. The walk into the centre of Ribeira Grande was 25 minutes - a relaxing walk through the valley and an opportunity to really feel of the community walking alongside the locals! From Riberia Grande it was quick, easy & affordable to get a local Yasi (Aluguer) to Ponta do Sol (50 escudos one way). Definitely recommend visiting the small rocky beach in Ponta do Sol, a beautiful local swimming spot that is super relaxing! Orlando also gave us a great tip to continue walking into the valley from the house, following the road, and it was a fantastic recommendation, we had a lovely scenic walk. The room & space was spacious, comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals, and the view from the bedroom is amazing!! Orlando and his family were nice, very attentive & respectful hosts, muito obrigado!

I had a fantastic trip to Santo Antão and a big part of having such a great experience was staying at Orlando's house. The location is an absolute gem for hiking and running as multiple stunning trails start very close to the house. I traveled solo and without a car but getting to and from the place was easy. Orlando helped me to organise a coletiva to pick me up when I left for the ferry. The place itself was everything I needed after a long day exploring outdoors: hot shower, good kitchen for cooking and a big bed. In the morning I woke up to a nice and simple breakfast which was tailored for my plant based diet. For any shopping that I needed to do there were multiple little markets about half an hour walk away to Ribeira Grande.
