If you’re looking for a cozy cottage with a beautiful view and close to Virginia Tech, this is a perfect option. My family and I felt at home immediately and enjoyed the peaceful setting. Plenty of games to enjoy on a rainy/snowy day too. Would be a great place to visit in the summer to really enjoy the outdoors. We are looking forward to staying here again!
The house was nice and spacious for our family of four. It is not super luxury, but it didn’t lack much of anything. Sitting next to the river was very pleasant. There are a lot of trains, but we didn’t think they were too disruptive. They were interesting.
Stopped in at Virginia Tech for a sporting event and a round of golf at the River Course for two nights. Grant’s place was ideal! When it says on the river, it means ON THE RIVER! We sat by the water with a fire in late afternoon, quite peaceful. Plenty of room and nice back deck. It’s about 20 mins to Vtech and same to the River Course. Cool spot!
My second time staying. Very clean and a beautiful location.
We had a great trip. The cottage was as described and met all of our needs. We truly enjoyed our time by the river and will try to book again when it’s warmer. The trains are active, but you can barely hear them. None of us had any trouble relaxing or sleeping.

I’ve spent my entire life in Southwest VA enjoying the outdoors and soaking up adventures. Being the outdoorsman that I am, it was a dream come true when my wife and I were given the once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a home on the New River only miles from where I was raised. We started a family in this cottage by raising our first daughter here on the river and it was magical! We quickly outgrew the home when we had our second daughter but we knew we could never part ways from this piece of paradise. We are so happy to now be able to share this space and surrounding nature with you! We now live through our guests experiences from the great reviews/comments and guestbook entries when we ourselves can not be there to enjoy! As your host I will do everything I can to ensure you and your family/friends make lasting memories at Cottage on the New!
