First off, we should have done our research before booking. A quick look at Streetview would've shown us that this wasn't the idyllic country location we thought it was, although the photos on the listing also carefully disguise the location. The 'house' is mid-terrace with the front door right on the main route through the town. It does back onto a beautiful river and is quiet at night. The interior would best be described as tired - it is an old house and will never be perfect, but there's peeling paint and possible damp in the corners. My daughter's room at the top of the very steep stairs was very cold and had brown stains on the walls and in the corners. The oven trays were badly stained and looked like they hadn't been washed since the last hire - my wife had to wash them before use. There were no kitchen towels or soap in the bathrooms, and there was broken glass on the stairs, that we luckily found before any injury.

We had a few issues with our stay, but the host was on the end of the phone whenever we called him and tried his best to sort things out. Some images of the outside of the house would have been helpful as it is on the side of a road which was unexpected. The stairs were also a suprise as they were very steep, not suitable for dogs, young children or the elderly. Maybe this just needs to be clearer on the description.
