Julie is an amazing host and her house is so peaceful. The house is clean and has everything for a multi-day stay. It is the perfect distance from the city, where we got to enjoy city activities, but still enjoy the quiet river view. We loved sitting on the screened in porch facing the river as well. The train does go by the house fairly often but that didn't bother us. There were a few Boxelder bugs that we came across in the house but again didn't bother us. Not sure where they were getting in at. The stairs to get inside weren't steep for us but we did bring our dog who is older. They were a little steep for him to walk up without assistance so something to think about for some. We would definitely stay at Julie's home again in the future.

The house was nice on the inside, and the screened in porch was really neat. It's really neat that the house overlooks the Mississippi River. The downfall of the house was the basement because it wasn't clean at all, and there was at least one dead mouse in a mousetrap, and there was a lot of mouse poop all over the basement with a mouse nest or mouse fur. The coffee machine is really old with rust on the burner part.

Julie’s place was just like the pictures. Very comfortable and peaceful. The views from the back porch were very nice. The sunrises over the water were particularly great. The noise from the train passing by very close to the house was not so great. It didn’t stop us from enjoying our weekend, but we definitely knew when they were going by. We were going to Galena and this was a quiet place to stay out of the hustle and bustle. Would stay again.

My mom and her best friend since high school turned 75, so my best friend and I took our moms on a girl's trip to Galina, IL & Dubuque, IA. We stayed in this quaint little cottage on the river. The area was peaceful and quiet and had everything we needed. We especially loved the screened in porch, even though it was cool and rainy. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Julie, for sharing your cottage with us.

The best part was the screened in porch overlooking the river, so peaceful and enjoyed the birds and other wildlife sounds. The living room furniture is very comfortable with plenty of seating options. We didn't cook a lot but it seemed like there was everything you could need. The Berkey water filtration was nice, we didn't have to buy drinking water. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, pillow top. This place is very close to the railroad tracks, so expect to be awakened a couple times a night if you are a light sleeper. This didn't bother us but it could bother some. The location is great, not too far from things to do in Dubuque but also secluded away from the hustle and bustle. Loved every minute there!
