大伦敦 · 民居里的独立房间 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Quiet double-bed room walking distance to Kings X
Stay in the centre of the action in this one-of-a-kind place. Super quiet private double bedroom walking distance to Kings Cross-St Pancras, Angel tube and Highbury & Islington tube and the many bars and restaurants around (the famous Upper Street or the newer Granary Square along the canal) . It feels like staying in the country side right in the middle of London. Fast into central London, the City or Canary Wharf or Victoria by tube. Pls note shared bathroom (shower & bath) with the owner. A light quiet comfortable double bed bedroom facing the garden and greenery in my two bedroom Maisonette. This is my home, where I rent out one bedroom for stays. I prefer to share with guests who are/feel/carry themselves as if over 30 yrs young. Responsible, Respectful, Non-smokers only. Not ideal for guests with reduced mobility (staircase). Flexible check in/out by prior arrangement. Other arrangements can be discussed if necessary (storing something in the fridge, or other occasional necessities). Pls ask and i will answer whether it is possible or not. If big or many luggages, can be stored just outside the room on the landing. Please post your photo and check the House Rules before booking. No photos and no reviews will reduce your chance to be accepted. I hope you will enjoy this light and comfortable place to stay in Central London. The flat has wooden floors throughout, including the guest bedroom. YOUR BEDROOM is simple and clean [3.17x3.77m or 16’8x12’4]. It has a double bed, a dedicated guest wardrobe including for hanging clothes (long dresses too), drawers, shelves, mirror, bedside lights. There is a small desk for working (the coffee tray can then be stored in the wardrobe for more working space) and a large East-facing windows with rooftop and garden views (very greenery and peaceful). The room is at the back of the building and the windows are equipped with blinds and blackout curtains, so it is very quiet. I provide fresh cotton linen and towels. Hairdryer, kettle, herbal teas/tea/coffee/milk and water are also provided and can be refilled for multiple night stays. An iron and ironing board are available if you need them (pls ask). Anything else you might need, pls ask and I might be able to help. The shared BATHROOM is lovely, clean and has a shower cubicle, a separate bath, a washbasin, tiled floor and walls. Pls note for longer stay or urgency- if you are in need to do a washing, pls ask and I might be able to arrange. There is 24/7 wifi with good connection throughout the house. There is pay and display parking on the street round the corner. Sometimes I might able to arrange parking for single overnight stay right outside the house (pls ask when booking if it can be arranged). Access to the MAISONETTE is straight from the gravel private street within a Conservation Area. It tends to be a fairly safe area but pls bear in mind that there is a lot of pickpocketing around Islington (well all over London) so please keep phones in the pocket as much as you can in public spaces and when walking about. If i am here i will welcome you ; if i am not, we can discuss other arrangements. You will be fairly close to the many smart, trendy and eclectic shops, markets, bars, restaurants, independent cinema and theatre that have made Islington a smart and popular London Borough on one side and also close to the newly very popular Granary Square by King's Cross - St Pancras filled with many restaurants (with easy access to Central London and any tubes (including to Heathrow airport) and trains to Gatwick and Luton airport and the North of the UK (North East / Yorkshire etc). Walk along the canal towards Camden and Regents Park. The overground can take you straight to Camden in one stop, to Hampstead Heath (3 stops) or even Richmond Park (South West) or Stratford (Eastbound - Olympic Aquatic Centre) in less than 25 mins or South of the River. So excellent, easy transport connections to the City and all over London. Close to a great mix of shops, bars and restaurants in vibrant Angel, Islington and Kings Cross/St Pancras.
Gaelle’s place is excellent! It was extremely close to where I was coming for work in London, and I was so lucky that she had availability when I was coming to town.
Had a lovely stay at Gaelle's home. Everything as described. It was a little further from the underground than expected (my friend is having problems with her hip) but thanks to Gaelle for her help with locations of the closer bus stops we coped OK. Gaelle was very flexible with early check in and the convenience of being able to leave our cases. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Cozy room and clean bathroom in a quiet and nice neighborhood. 10 minute walk to trains. A few cute cafes and restaurant options nearby. Gaelle was friendly and responsive.
I would highly recommend Gaelle's place to other solo female travelers like myself. The space is clean, comfortable and well-taken care of. As a host, Gaelle is communicative, warm and helpful. I appreciated being able to check in early after arriving early into London after an overnight train. Would stay again :)
The area is a mix of the modern and old, protected 17th, 18th and 19th Century buildings. If you like to shop or to eat out you will be spoilt for choice! The street you will be staying is super quiet and has a countryside feel and is. All the neighbours have been living around here for at least 10 years+ and know each other so it is a very safe place.
Check my guide for places to go to and stuff to do locally (I have written for the different areas very close by).
There are immediately plenty of green squares and spaces to sit in the sun or take some fresh air nearby if you want.
A couple of very local places up the road (ask for directions):
- SUNDAY Cafe & Restaurant - snacks and coffees during the day
- Southpaw coffee place
- La Taberna Ristaurante (Italian) - 12-9:30pm weekdays, til 10pm on Fri & Sat, until 7pm on Sunday.
- The Hemingford Arms pub (Thai menu)
- The Albion pub (gastropub modern English)
- The Drapers Arms pub (gastro pub).
There are many transport links, tube stations, overground station around here and many are within walking distances 12-15mins. Northern line (Angel tube & King's Cross tube), Victoria Line (Highbury & Islington - Northbound or King's Cross -Southbound), Piccadilly line (Caledonian Road).
King's Cross Station and St Pancras International both have several trains connections and are 2 different train stations. Kings Cross reaches the North (Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, etc. and closer Greater North London places). St Pancras International deserves Gatwick Airport and Luton airport directly, Brighton on the Coast and also the Continent (France & Belgium) and Northern cities in the Midlands and beyond like Sheffield, Leicester, etc .
Caledonian Road & Barnsbury the closest overground station (it's all overground) linking Stratford to Richmond Park on the same line, it branches out to many other places so ask me if not sure.
If you prefer travelling by bus (a little slower than tubes but more enjoyable and there are many bus lanes now) - I can tell you which app to download so you can have the live time of the buses. There are many buses around. Pls note when you want a bus to stop you have to signal it by a wave or it may not stop (similarly with black cab - they need to have the yellow light on, that means they are free).
The 153 is the closest to here on Hemingford road at stop W and is a small bus that gets into Angel (12mins walk otherwise) and goes pretty much to the City via Barbican into the back of Liverpool Street. On the way back from Angel, get off at the bus stop V.
All the other ones are double deckers and can be caught from Caledonian Road (5mins walk).
To head South or into Central London towards King's Cross, pls catch the bus at bus Stop P. The 17, 91, 259 all goes to King's Cross ; the 17 continues to the West of the City ; 91 into Trafalgar Square ; 259 stops in Kings Cross, 274 back into Angel one way.
If you cross the road (stop M), the 274 can take you towards Regents Park (westbound) to pick it up at Stop M. You will also get all buses to head more North and you can also catch the Piccadilly line at Caledonian Road (get off at stop D) especially if you go to Heathrow, you might get a chance for a seat before hitting King's Cross tube station that can get very busy. The best wagon is the usually the first front wagon and those seats there behind the driver where you will get more chance to be seated).
There are many more buses by Angel tube station and a couple of bus shelters.
One is stop G with the bus 43 and bus 56 into the City, the 43 via Old Street and Moorgate and into London Bridge, the 56 via London's Wall and St Paul's Cathedral.
The other stop Stop F is 10 meters up for the 19 into Battersea Bridge, 30 into Marble Arch, 38 into Victoria, 73 into Oxford Circus, 341 into Waterloo Station and 476 into King's Cross station.
Pls note the 19, 38 and 73 have also night buses. Although I would generally advise for a cab if you come back late and if you can take one (Uber, Bolt, black cab).
At Angel, the bus stop is big in front of the N1 shopping Centre on the opposite side of the road, but be careful not to take bus 73 and 341 that will take you down Essex road (further away from your home from home), make sure that you stay on Upper street and you can get off a few stops further (3 max).
Parking and cars in Islington are probably best to be avoided in all honesty. One way traffic in places, Congestion charge, Ulez charge, extra tax for Diesel car (parking more expensive).
Going to Airports:
-Trains into Gatwick Airport and Luton Airport direct from St Pancras (heading South to Brighton for Gatwick and heading North to Bedford for Luton) or you can also catch the Victoria express to get to Gatwick ( more expensive and might take longer as you need to take the tube first or a taxi there as it is the other side of London)
-Trains into Luton Airport direct from St Pancras (heading North to Bedford)
- Trains into Heathrow Airport (depending which terminal and if you are in a hurry) either the Piccadilly Line (dark blue) or the Heathrow Express esp for LHR T5 from Paddington Station (my preferred option even if a little more expensive). To get to Paddington you can use the tube at Kings cross - District line (Green) or check from of the tube (Circle - yellow and also Pink one) if they go via Paddington or use a Black cab - they have their own lane to get to Paddington (a little faster but more expensive) or an Uber/Bolt (normal traffic lane but cheaper) to get to Paddington station and then the Heathrow Express (once departed, 15-20mins to get there).
- Trains into Stansted from Liverpool Street Station
Any other destinations, pls let me know, happy to guide you.
