Our family had a fantastic stay here in Nozawaonsen. The house was just as described and fully equipped, down to the onsen-ready baskets. The management group helped us with our rentals and restaurant recommendations. We would love to return in the future!
We are family of 5, i.e. 3 adults and 2 kids, and still felt spacious, and very relaxing with nice high ceiling rooms and views. Kids were very excited about the clean and cleanly furnished rooms. The place looks old fashioned from outside but inside is very modern which makes nice contrast and good surprise. Walking distance to the Main Street and many of the outside public hot springs. We would definitely wanna go back to the place when we go to Nozawa in the future. Thank you.
Nozawa Onsen (野沢温泉村 Nozawa-Onsen-mura) is a charming hot spring village is located at the foot of Mt. Kenashi and home to nearly 5,000 residents.
It’s been a favorite hot spring destination since the Edo Period, but more recently has become even more famous as a world-class ski resort. In 1998 the village hosted the biathlon events for the Nagano Olympics and 16 villagers have represented Japan in the Olympics since 1955.
Spend some time exploring the streets of the village, whether it’s your first time to Nozawa or visit every year, you are bound to discover something new. There are 13 free hot springs dotted around the village as well as free footbaths.
Nozawa Onsen is the perfect place to visit for a authentic Japanese ski experience. The ski resort offenses a variety of slopes and activities that are perfect for anyone- from beginners to experts. Nozawa is located on the slopes of Mt. Kenashi and is one of Japan’s oldest ski grounds. The resort receives a consistent amount of snowfall each year, making it the perfect spot for a winter getaway.
There are two gondolas (Hikage and Nagasaka) with a wide variety of courses available. The mountain has a convenient Uenotaira slope at the top that connects the two gondola stations, so both beginner and advanced skiers can enjoy the experience of being at the top of the mountain and take in the stunning views and fresh air. At the end of the day, beginners can ride the gondola back down.
The best way to get to Nozawa Onsen on public transport is getting to Iiyama station by Hokuriku Shinkansen and then catching the Nozawa Onsen Liner bus. Closest bus stop is ’Shinden' and its 3 min walk to Dennojo. Please see time table on Nozawa Onsen Kotsu Website.
