This was my 4th month-long visit to Kingston during my 1-yr Jamaica retirement vacation. Had to return. He's such a calm, friendly person, you feel totally comfortable around him. With your own gate key, there are no restrictions. I suffer from low red blood platlettes. I told Bert that medical research shows the juice from blending the fresh pawpaw leaves are the best remedy. Asked if I could plant some trees. He immediately allowed me to plant some pawpaw / papaya seeds! How kind! When I return next year, I hope to pick the leaves and even the fruits. What makes this place so outstanding for those who don't own or rent a car is its close proximity to diverse shopping plazas, supermarkets, banks, restaurants, pharmacies, jogging park. You can simply go everywhere by walking max. 10-30 mins. Good exercise. There is even a hospital close by, in case of emergency : just an 8 min taxi drive. Will definitely return. This was my 3rd month-long relaxing stay at Bert's home, residing in the studio apartment attached to his house. I'm traveling around Jamaica for a year and enjoyed staying here so much since my first visit, I always feel I have a home in Kingston to which I can return whenever it's available. Bert's friendly welcome back was very heartwarming Now, after my third visit, I can truly state that Bert's Kingston suburban house with fruit trees has become my home away from my overseas home. Bert is a genuine person. His calm, pleasant personality has remained constant throughout my 3 stays, so has his helpfulness. He has an open ear to your suggestions. My apartment upon entering was clean; so were the towels and bedspreads. The king-sized bed is very comfortable. I enjoyed preparing my meals in the kitchenette. Paulette's little shop beside the gate provides small basic food necessities and toiletry articles. This saves time running to the large supermarket. Will definitely return.

This was my second stay at Bert's. Am in Jamaica travelling around the island. Felt so at home here in June, I immediately rebooked for September & December. His private residence is centrally located in a quiet street, but just 10 minutes walk to major shopping plazas, 20-30 minutes to Devon House (where you can purchase the world famous Devon House I-Scream) & the Bob Marley Museum. Bert remains a super-cool host who goes out of his way to make you feel quite at home. He even allowed me to accompany him to a local club to listen to music from the 70s, and also to the countryside. I again enjoyed picking fruits from his trees, eating coconut jelly, relaxing under a mango tree, playing with his adorable little dogs, and purchasing basic necessities from the little shop beside the gate. He is readily available day or night whenever you need his guidance. I feel as if I have a new Jamaican friend. I definitely will return in December and in 2024.

באופן כללי, מאוד נהננו מהשהייה אצל ברט. יש חצר גדולה וברט נתן לנו להכניס מורים לריקוד ולקיים שיעורים בחצר. מ-5 בערב ועד 6 בבוקר יש הפסקת מים ולברט יש מיכל מים על הגג. ביום הראשון כשהגענו לא היו מים וברט לא היה בבית ונאלצנו לחכות שעתיים כדי להתרחץ. כשהגיע, ברט לימד אותנו איך לפתוח את הברז על מנת שיהיו מים, אך בכל זאת היו מספר ימים שנגמרו לנו המים והלכנו לישון מלוכלכות אחרי יום שלם. הלוואי שידענו על זה קודם, יכול להיות שהיינו שוקלות בשנית את השהייה. בכל אופן, ברט היה זמין לנו בוואטסאפ והמיקום היה מעולה, 10 דקות הליכה מ half way tree ו-5 דקות הליכה ממרכז רפואי ומבית מרקחת. קיבלנו מפתחות לשער ולחדר והיו כסאות בחוץ לשבת בערב לאכול. לאחר כמה ימים שילמנו לבחורה שעובדת בחנות בחצר (2000 jmd ) שתנקה את החדר והיא ניקתה מצויין והחליפה לנו מגבות.

Great spot to stay in Kingston for a few days! Good wifi, A/C, and even a washer for clothes that bert can help you use. Uber to and from the house and around the city and you’ll have an awesome trip! 10/10 👍😊
