Lovely comfortable cottage with extremely well stocked kitchen equipment and everything you need for a family holiday. Bedrooms comfortable and spacious. The information on Airbnb did not list towels as being included but they were. The garden is not enclosed and a long lead on a corkscrew for our dog was extremely beneficial. The location is fantastic for walking (Beacon fell and tarn/Coniston Old Man) and Coniston launch and walking around the East side of the lake has wonderful views of the Southern Mountain ranges. We would definitely book again, thank you.
Lovely old property with easy check in. Only downsides for us were the close proximity of neighbouring houses leading to additional rules for dogs. Felt more dog tolerant than dog friendly.
Lovely house clean and well equiped. From the photos thought that it was in its own grounds and thought more enclosed garden area. Path lights would be advantageous. Not in walking distance to anywhere by path it was all road. Pictures show lake view this is a walk on a main road approx 30 minutes. Like that it is dog friendly inside not out. Could do with a dog/baby gate at bottom of stairs.
What a fabulous house from which to explore the Lakes! We were woken to birdsong each morning and lovely views through the windows. The house was warm and cosy and had a well-equipped kitchen for family dining. It was a great base to get to Coniston and Lake Windemere and the scenery all around is stunning. We got our kids out for some great walks - Carron Crag in Grizedale Forest, Orrest Head in Windemere and Tarn Hows (National Trust) lake walk. Thank you Philip!
A fantastic playground for families and outdoor enthusiasts, the Crake Valley has it all. Beacon Tarn, near Water Yeat offers explorers the chance walk and picnic or even take a quick dip. Cyclists of all abilities will revel in the trails and bridle ways that snake their way across the valley including the top rated Blawith Loop. Access to Grizedale Forest, which caters for a wide range of abilities including the famous North Face.
The Coniston Launch has various sailings to the south of the Lake, some giving interesting commentaries about the legendary Donald Campbell who raced his boat "Bluebird," on these waters, and also about the "Swallows and Amazons" adventures. The Launch stops at the Torver Jetty, also at the Lake Bank Jetty at Water Yeat, and Water Park at Nibthwaite and at the Parkamoor Jetty.
The X12 bus travels west of the Lake for those who would enjoy a car free day. However for drivers there is plenty of easy, and mostly free places to park near the Lake on both the south western and eastern shores, where there are many quiet shingle bays from which to enjoy the water. You can launch canoes and small boats, go paddle boarding or wind-boarding, Swim, or just relax in the clean, fresh air and admire the stunning views of the high fells.
