Slivniško lake is 5 km long and half a kilometre wide. It was created in 1976 by damming the Dobrina and Ločnica streams.
The eastern part of the lake, including the outfall of the Dobrina and Ločnica, is a spawning ground for fish. Informally, it has been declared as an ichthyologic and ornithological reserve extending over approximately 40 hectares of water and the surrounding area. It is inhabited by approximately 130 species of birds and 32 species of fish, crayfish, lampreys, frogs and mussels, as well as some rare plants.
It is a popular fishing destination, with a record catch of catfish, mackerel, carp and zander. In November 2013 the largest freshwater fish in Slovenia has been caught here - it was a catfish, 255 cm long and 95kg heavy. The lake is suitable for water sports, and the surroundings for walking, cycling and observing rare fauna and flora.

Nearest grocery store is 10 min drive away in Šentjur.
There is nice bar called Ramna across the lake with great coffee, coctails and sweets. You can row a canoe there.

> Žiče Charterhouse is 30 min drive away. Žiče Charterhouse is a mysterious beauty which has been stirring spirits for centuries. The Charterhouse was a Carthusian monastery in the narrow valley of Žičnica Creek, also known as Saint John the Baptist Valley (Slovene: dolina svetega Janeza Krstnika). The Žiče Charterhouse was founded between 1155 and 1165. Today the Žiče Charterhouse is an important historical and cultural monument.
The Gastuž Inn is the oldest still operating Slovenian Inn with an exceptional location right next to the ancient Žiče Charterhouse.
> Celje: As a fort at the top of the hill, largest medieval castle in Slovenia controls all traffic routes to the center of Celje from afar. The first foundations of the Old Castle of Celje date from the second half of the 12th century. The Old Castle of Celje is best known as the home of the Counts of Celje, the country’s most influential dynasty. Memories of the past have been retained through exciting legends, exhibitions and interactive experiences. In the warmer part of the year, “Living History” programmes with cultural and historical associations from all over Slovenia take place.
Driving around and exploring:
The Kozjansko Regional Park, a region in eastern Slovenia, is one of the oldest and largest protected areas in Slovenia. It represents a mosaic of the pre-Alpine Posavje Mountain Range, hills, and plains along the River Sotla.
The high degree of biodiversity places Kozjanski park among the most important nature protection areas in Slovenia and Europe with the majority of the park belonging to the European important special protection areas NATURA 2000. Since 2010, the Kozjansko and Obsotelje regions have enjoyed the status of a biosphere reserve under the protection of UNESCO.
