I felt so at home here that it was hard to say goodbye. I’m already counting the days till I get to be back again. This really is the sort of place where you can enjoy lots of time alone in an idyllic setting but also mingle and form connections with wonderful people from diverse backgrounds, French and international. The chateau has such a rich history, but more than that, Julien, Raphaëlle and their friends and family are some of the warmest, kindest, and most generous people I’ve ever met. I was expecting to stay in an Airbnb that happened to be a chateau, but I gained so much more, a truly enriching experience. There is a certain charm at La Roche Cotard that's extremely palpable yet impossible to put into words. I cannot recommend staying here highly enough! P.S. If you want to improve your French and learn more about French culture, you'll achieve that here. I did! Thanks for everything guys xxx

I was blown away by my time at La Roche Cotard. Julien, Raphaëlle, and their family/friends have created a wonderful place for remote workers and coliving. The castle is absolutely stunning - a peaceful, gorgeous escape in the French countryside. I felt welcome and safe, and enjoyed living with the other colivers in the castle. Because everyone stays for at least a month, it was easy to feel part of a community. It surpassed all of my expectations, and I definitely plan on coming back. Seriously - if you’re looking to settle somewhere for 1+ months, work remotely, experience French culture, make friends, and live in a castle - don’t think about it. Book it. You won’t regret it.

La Roche Cotard is a unique place for long-term stays. My room was private with a very clean private bathroom, functional work space, and comfortable bed and linens. The château and grounds are spectacular. The common areas are also well equipped with reliable wi-fi and lots of places to work throughout the house. There's a supermarket across the street, with a short walk to the town of Langeais, which hosts a pretty large market every Sunday. Plus, you can easily catch the train from Langeais to Angers, Tours, and beyond, so traveling without a car is no problem. Finally, it was great to connect with the other guest, as well as Julien, Raphaëlle, and their friends. They're very friendly and well-connected in the community, so they will go out of their way to arrange activities and make your stay memorable. I highly recommend la Roche Cotard!

La Roche Cotard is a unique place to live and work from! It's a beautiful castle, calm and close to everything, with a great community. Julien and Raphaelle are fantastic hosts. Highly recommend staying here!

We've just had an incredible week at Julien and Raphaëlle's place which was the perfect location for our long-awaited family reunion. 12 of us stayed (8 adults and 4 children) and everyone absolutely loved it. This is a truly breathtaking property. The château has been lovingly restored by Julien and there's something beautiful around every corner. Each room is so spacious and tastefully decorated with big comfortable beds, gorgeous antique furniture, and views of the park. Outside, there are vast woods to explore, a large area for children to play football, table tennis, and boules, and space to sunbathe. We woke to deers grazing in the morning, and nights were spent stargazing, listening to the cicadas, and eating dinners at the big table outside. And while it's an outstanding home, it's also a place where you feel able to fully relax. Langeais itself is a beautiful market town with the stunning 15th-century Château de Langeais at its heart. We spent a full day exploring the Château and its grounds and watching a falconry display. It's just a 20-min walk into town from the property, and we'd stroll down each morning for coffee and pastries at the local patisserie. There are some good restaurants within walking distance, too. If you head up to the top of the town, there's a park with incredible views. We took a picnic there. Just a 10-min walk from Julien's place is a fantastic municipal pool, which we frequently visited (very cheap and lots of fun for the kids) opposite a fishing lake. The property's own vast pool is nearing completion and will be a beautiful addition. For food and supplies, just a 2-min walk from the property is a Carrefour market, with everything you need to stock up. We decided to do our holiday without a hire car. Langeais station will get you to Tours where you can hop on a train to other locations. We did a day trip to Paris which was super easy, and caught another train that takes you directly to the stunning Château de Chenonceau. The highlight of the week was sitting on the steps outside the château, playing guitars, drinking wine, and watching the Perseid meteor shower. Truly magical. From the moment we got in touch, Julien and Raphaëlle were exceptional hosts and were so kind and helpful throughout our stay, from sending us great recommendations for places to visit, offering to book restaurant tables to organising taxis. We cannot recommend this place enough to people who want to enjoy the rural peace of this beautiful region and be close to everything you need. Thank you, Julien and Raphäelle, for everything. We can't wait to return.
