Blue Magpie Farmhouse, a boutique terrace mudhouse cottage, located in middle of green fields, calm and serene - with amazing 360 degree view. Skylight kitchen for self cooking if you please. It's a unique experience living here amidst the fields overlooking the mountain. It is located in a safe friendly neighborhood, yet we have privacy n open space. With a plethora of migratory birds, the sky lit by stars, this boutique stay in the lap of nature is the epitome of tranquility. * Listing for 1 to 3 persons * On request, beds can be rearranged to dbl / sgls * Kitchen is free to use With the first floor terrace turned into a boutique stay, it is an art embodied. Twin beds are joined for double occupancy, with a sofa cum bed available for third guest. Bedroom size - 10 x 19 ft large room with an inhouse fireplace keeps the place warm in winters and the slate rock floors adds an earthy touch. Skylight bathroom attached with western commode and hot water shower, with its rustic architecture and see through roof is a sight to behold. Kitchen room size 10 x 8ft is equipped with induction stove, few required utensils and crockeries. We have stocked with basic requirements like milk, sugar, salt, tea, coffee, cooking oil and spices for little bit of self cooking if you wish. Although our helper Didi cooks simple delicious breakfast on prior request at Rs 100 per person. She would also assist in clearing the kitchen and cleaning up the space. Terrace size 20 x 20 ft is available privately for the guest, furniture and sittings are comfortably placed for leisure and relaxation. We often have interesting birds visiting our bird pool. Guest are free to hand pick mint and other few seasonal veggies that are available in our terrace garden. Wash your eyes with so many colors - amazing sunrise, sunset, green fields and distant snow clad mountains are sure a treat for the eyes. Wifi - we have Jio fiber high speed unlimited internet about 27 mbps speed available to guest free with stay,if higher speed required it is possible to upgrade to 100 mbps or more for an extra as per jio internet tariff (for longer stays).

The place was very quaint and beautiful. Surrounded by mountains and greenery. Easily accessible to many places of interest. Clean and nice. Beautiful views of snow clad mountains.
I took my daughter at shaun's place and we really felt like home. we were very comfortable, the vibe was peaceful. the interesting thing is he took care of every small things which was impressive. people who stays below this place are really very good and helpful. Just at night you feel bit scary as there is complete dark outside. Rest everything was perfect.
A clean and comfortable abode in the midst of Dharamshala mountains. Shaun is extremely responsive and the family that stays downstairs is very sweet and helpful too. Lots of nice cafes around the place at walking distance. Overall, a beautiful experience, especially the gorgeous sunrises from the cozy terrace!
I traveled to Dharamshala in 3rd week of December 2023 with my wife and found this lovely place for our 3 night stay. The accommodation have all the required amenities including a spacious kitchen and a big terrace. This feels private as we got the whole 1st floor of the mud-house, and it's amidst a village - feels right in the nature. The decorations and arrangements are perfect; we got room heater, hot water geyser, wifi, ample space of seating. Our host Shaun was very responsive, helpful; he made the check-in very easy by providing all required information and helped to plan local sight seeing too. This place have a good village home vibe, in the ground floor Pushpa didi's farmer family lives with their lovely children. Two minor not-so-good points I can mention: about the new constructions - without which view of Dhauladhar range would have been mind-blowing; and last few meters to reach the home is not motorable. Thank you Shaun for this memorable stay.
Shaun and Phurbu have put their heart in this place and it was clearly evident from the pre checkin conversation to during our stay at this amazing place. The didis on the ground floor were very warm and welcoming. We loved the home made food which will beat any food place you could order from. The view from the farm stay of the snowy Himalayan peaks, the Tibetan chants from the nearby monastery and the starry night was all that we needed and got it at Blue Magpie for the perfect break. Stepping out too is a great idea. Find yourself strolling in the field; perhaps give a helping hand at the farm as a volunteer. Getting close to the earth, dipping your toes in the fields is highly encouraged here. Take a picnic basket to the river that runs just 5 minutes from the farmstay, or spend a day learning the local culture on a tour of the village. At times get to hear the evening chanting from the nunnery nearby while watching the sun go down.
Take an unexplored path with the locals who’ve paved ways unknown for you, on foot or on a bicycle. The journey itself is beautiful. Find yourself surrounded by the Birds of Kangra, with over 500 plus migratory making their way to Dharamshala throughout the year.
With the greenery, and the sky full of stars, bird species like white-capped water redstart, common hoopoe, great barbets, flocks of plum-headed parakeets, asian- paradise flycatcher and such, is just icing on the cake for bird aficionados.
In walking distance- about 10 mins through the village you can reach to Norbulingka - An Institute dedicated to preserving the integrity of Tibetan artistic and literary traditions.
