This is by far my worst airBnb experience. From having to drive around town waiting and finally having to ask for the code for the house, to NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE AIR TEMPERATURE IN THE HOUSE (there is a lockbox on the thermostat) to being WATCHED on camera and scolded for smoking in the open air yard (never had anyone actually ban smoking on the entire premises, but fine, we moved to the street), to being watched continuously even when the host “went to get the mail”. I bring up the smoking comment because this was the first time we realized he was watching us. He sent a creepy message after 11pm while we were sitting outside. In the complete dark. Again, we moved to the street—though I think it is ridiculous to say that smoke smell is offensive to people when the neighbor stands outside smoking all day. But, it’s a rule-we honored it-just very inconsiderate. The ad is misleading. There are TWO cameras on the property. One facing the garage doors and one facing the front door, that notifies the host anytime there is motion, and he looks. He told me when he gets a notification, he looks. Also. You can hear the people downstairs. Clearly. Which means they can hear you too. Zero privacy. At booking, this was not clear. The ad only mentioned the basement was off limits. It did not say people would be below me. I felt extremely uncomfortable in this home and had my husband not been with me, I would have left. During my stay, the host changed the rules of the house to reflect “violations” he witnessed me doing (again, because he was watching me) that he didn’t like.He also took it upon himself to adjust the air even after I had asked it be turned down, because “he saw the door was open” while we waited for our friends to arrive for a brief visit. When I called him out on doing this, suddenly, the home is for “guests only” now and “if the door is open, the house will be hot.” This house is hot because there are no blinds on the front window and the afternoon sun blasts into the space. Literally this guy is trying to control every aspect of your stay here. Also, this is the most BARELY stocked kitchen I have ever attempted to use. There are ZERO condiments (contrary to the ad) and minimal (at best) utensils and housewares. The house is clean and the location is great, but the host is unprofessional and should really reconsider what his “priorities” are. Because making guests feel safe and secure is not it. It’s very obvious this guy is milking every penny he can out of his guests… down to the temperature of the air. I would ABSOLUTELY NOT STAY HERE ALONE. The host is aware his behavior made me uncomfortable and I made sure airBnb knew about his actions and behaviors as well. Do not recommend.

Everything was as pictured and very clean. Check in and out was seamless and the home was wonderful. I even left my purse unknowingly and was contacted by the owner and was able to get it back before I left PA for good.
