The Homestead is ideal for large families looking to escape to nature. Located 2 miles down a WINDING GRAVEL MOUNTAIN ROAD. The upper level has a full bathroom shared by two rooms. The first has a king-sized bed and the second has one set of twin-sized bunk beds and two additional twin-sized beds. The main level has a king-sized room, full bath, living room with a flat screen TV, and access to an oversized porch. The kitchen overlooks the porch and open-plan living room. The lower level of the home has a gathering room, complete with a pool table, laundry room, full bathroom, and king bedroom. Enjoy your morning coffee on the covered front porch, catch up on your tan on the back deck, or stay curled up in bed as you enjoy that book you have been meaning to read. The property of Huffman Creek Retreat is 500+ secluded acres of magic. Guest of the Huffman Creek Retreat are invited to walk the miles of private hiking trail and see the private waterfalls or even a plane wreck. Maps of the property are provided upon arrival. If it's a hike you're looking for, enjoy the property's five miles of private hiking trails with ample room for camping opportunities. Pack a lunch or a full pack for an over-nite stay. Either way, be sure to bring along your camera to snap a shot of the abundant wildlife, waterfalls, streams, and various mountain views. The region, located in the Appalachian biosphere, is home to the world's densest population of salamanders. The town of Robbinsville, North Carolina is located in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountain Region of the southern Appalachian Mountains. Known for it's diverse species of flora and fauna, the region is home to the old growth of Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Slickrock Creek Wilderness Area, Natahala National Forest, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From Huffman Creek, you're only moments to the secluded cool waters of Lake Santeetlah. The lake boasts almost an entirely undeveloped shoreline with 75% being home to National Forest. With a restricted number of residences, the quiet lake is ideal for boating, fishing, swimming, and any of your favorite water sports. We always recommend reaching out to Smoky Mountain Kayak fishing for help planning your day out on the water. Take a short drive to Highway 129 and take on the adventure of driving the 'Tail of the Dragon.' The world-renowned road is a challenge even for the greatest road warriors with 318 curves in just 11 miles. Continue on your journey and loop back around to Huffman Creek on the Cherohala Skyway, which winds a mile high through mountaintop ridges of the Cherokee National Forrest. Purpose built for auto touring, and at a cost to tax payer of $2 million dollars a mile, plan to take your time as the Cherohala is full of magnificent vistas. For the history buffs, you're just a short drive to Cherokee, North Carolina, home to the eastern Band of the Cherokee. Try your luck at Harrah's Cherokee Casino or visit one of the many restaurants, shops, and museums. Embrace your inner adventurer and head down the Nantahala River. Featuring a combination of Class II and III rapids, there is something for the novice and full-on adrenaline junkie. Be sure to contact one of the multiple rafting companies in Bryson City to schedule your full day of adventure. For the more experienced paddler or for fantastic site seeing, experience the river release of the Cheoah. Full of Class IV and V rapids this river is not for faint of heart or beginner. Between white water rafting, zip-lining, mountain biking, and horse back riding, you'll be ready to relax when you arrive back at Huffman Creek. Enjoy the quieter side of your stay just steps outside of your door. Take a nap by the private creek while you enjoy friends and family fishing for trout. WiFi is for lite web browsing, emails, short WiFi calls only. LOCATED ON A GRAVEL ROAD. Accessible with a traditional car, mini van, truck, Jeep, etc. Not ideal for low clearance vehicles like Corvettes. Motorcycle travel depends on rider's skill level and comfort on gravel. We do have parking for trailers. Please note that as of August 15, 2021 this cabin no longer has a hot tub.
