Relax at this unique and peaceful cottage, full of character and charm. Originally an old schoolhouse with attached head master's cottage, it retains many original features including beautiful stonework. It is located on a hilltop overlooking Castlerock, and only 2 miles from the majestic Mussenden Temple and superb Downhill beach. Robin's Rest is the perfect getaway from some R+R. Plenty of free off-street parking available. An authentic Irish cottage that is full of character with plenty of outside space. This historic cottage was the first building in the area dating back to the early 1800s (or possibly before). The more recently created sunroom has views to the rear garden to supervise children, watch the wildlife or watch the sun go down behind the forest beyond. Plenty of free parking with views to the sea from the front garden and driveway. Comfortable with plenty of space for relaxing or entertaining. NB. Although the building it attached, there are 2 sides of the building which are NOT linked by internal door. Total of 1 king-size bed, 1 double and 4 singles. "The Schoolhouse" side has the master bedroom with king-sized bed, master bathroom and main living room with 2 of the single beds on the mezzanine level. These single beds are therefore recommended for children aged 6-12 due to low head room. "The Cottage" (aka Rose Cottage) has a double bedroom and a twin room as well as the kitchen, dining room, sunroom and a smaller bathroom.

Ein wundervolles Cottage in perfekter Lage. Es ist total gemütlich und sehr detailliert eingerichtet. Die Küche ist super ausgestattet. Tagsüber haben wir uns gern im lichtdurchfluteten Wintergarten aufgehalten, von dem aus man einen tollen Blick in den Garten und auf eine Kuhweide hat. Das Esszimmer ist auch perfekt, um Spiele zu spielen am großen Tisch. Abends ist das Kaminzimmer sehr gemütlich. In den Schlafzimmern lagen kuschelige Decken und Wärmflaschen. Im Cottage finden sich auch Hinweise auf die Geschichte der Gebäude. Andrew ist ein sehr aufmerksamer und engagierter Gastgeber, wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Man merkt, wie viel Liebe hier im Detail steckt. Von der Vorderseite aus hat man einen tollen Blick bis zum Meer. Zu Fuß kann man tolle Wanderungen ans Meer und verschiedene Aussichtspunkte und Sehenswürdigkeiten machen. Mit dem Auto erreicht man an der Küste entlang auch weiter entlegene schöne Ecken - Steilküsten, Sandstrände, Ruinen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
A beautiful and rustic cottage with a view of cattle grazing out the back and the rolling fields to the coastline out the front. Great location for discovering the North or Ireland. Andrew was very responsive and helpful, turning heating on for us when out through the day so we came back to warmth. Great spaces although be aware that the properties are not joined.
Andrew was an excellent host and was extremely helpful and accommodating. Robin's Rest surpassed our expectations. It's set in a beautiful location with views down to the sea. It has a gorgeous big private garden. The accommodation itself was fantastic with everything you could need for a great stay. The house has been restored very tastefully while still maintaining the charming character. Lots of beautiful touches throughout the property with plenty of information on how everything works. Excellent WiFi signal as well. The beautiful Downings beach is less than 10 minutes away by car. We hope to come back at some point in the future. Highly recommend this stunning retreat. Thank you Andrew, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The nearby Mussenden Temple and Downhill House run by the National Trust are a must see.
The nearby Benone and Downhill beaches are spectacular with ability to drive onto the beach and park for free.
Gortmore Viewpoint offers magnificent views over Magilligan to Donegal and the Lough Foyle Ferry can have you in Donegal within 15 minutes with easy access to Ireland's most northern point (Malin Head). Recommended to check sailing schedule on their website.
Nearby places to eat that I'd recommend include the Angler's Rest (Seacoast Rd, Benone), The Kitchen (Castlerock) and Kealy's Seafood (by taking the ferry to Greencastle).
Excellent location for cycling and walking on country roads, forest pathways and beaches.
By car, the cottage is within easy reach of Mussenden Temple (4 minutes), Downhill Forest (4 minutes) Downhill beach (5 minutes), Castlerock (7 minutes), Coleraine (10 minutes), Portrush and Portstewart (20 minutes) and Derry / Londonderry (30 minutes).
