Tranquil and exceptionally clean home on a cul-de-sac in a quaint and safe historic neighborhood near downtown Dayton. It is excellent proximity to many events, bike paths, and highways. Nearest restaurants, coffee, clubs, bars and surf are 10-15 min walk. Grandveiw Hospital-.3 mile Dayton Art Institute-.3 mile Victoria Theater and Schuster Center- .7 miles Oregon District-1.2 miles UD-3.3 miles National Museum of the Air Force-13 miles I think you'll like it here. It's simple, well appointed, and peaceful. I take great pride in the cleanliness, quality of environment and transparency offered at the Yellow Bird. My decorating style is outdoorsy and natural, and the space offers gorgeous natural light. The contents and amenities of the home are curated with your comfort and ease in mind. Everything in the house is for your use and enjoyment, but you will find the master closet door locked. Don't worry, the laundry room has plenty of storage and places to hang clothes. Wether you're in Dayton for a weekend event, or a week of work, you are sure to find what you need for your comfort an ease. My husband and I are entrepreneurs. He and his brother own a local, family owned mattress store called Mattress Innovations. Both mattresses at the Yellow Bird are hand picked by us for the space. We use mattress and pillow protectors, and nice linens. You can rest assured that all the linens, blankets, covers and throws are laundered in between guests, in addition to the whole place being thoroughly clean. It’s a cozy space, ideally meant for 4 or less people. Because of the sectional sleeper sofa, it is possible to accommodate more. A $20 per person charge for each guest over four will be added.
We absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage home is just perfect for two couples as the way the 2 bedrooms are set up offers great privacy. Laurie’s decor is phenomenal and her attention to detail shows how much love and care went into this home. Beautiful plants indoor and out. The neighborhood is truly special with the charm of old homes and their creative architecture. Laurie ensured we were comfortable and had all we needed. And I must say, being a picky woman when it comes to sleep…I slept like a baby as the mattress is super comfy. Thanks again Laurie, we will return on our next trip to Dayton.
I enjoyed my stay here. Beds were comfy. Kitchen had everything I needed to make a meal.
Wonderful stay at Laurie's. Super convenient to University of Dayton and downtown. Laurie was very responsive and even came out to greet us when we arrived! Will definitely stay again next time we are in the Dayton area. Laurie's home is also a great value!
Had a wonderful stay. Came to Dayton for WGI and this was the perfect place to stay. Thank you!
We are a hidden GEM of diversity in a historic neighborhood in downtown Dayton. Our community is bustling and its best amenity is a close knit group of people. The Yellow Bird is the last house on a cul-de-sac with a basketball hoop and sees a bit of foot and bike traffic, and very little car traffic. In 2022, the neighborhood began laying the ground work for a native prairie at the end of the street, steps from the house. It’s filling in beautifully and changing every season.
The Great Miami River is at the opposite end of the street, about 3 blocks away. There, you'll find hundreds of miles of bike paths and the River Run kayak drops, where Dayton's surfing and kayaking community come to play. If you're interested in adventure, check out Tom Foolery Outdoors and Surf Dayton.
A block away from the house is a great little park with swings, slides and a climbing wall the kids. There’s also a Free Little Library with books for all ages. Help yourself to one!
There's a Link bicycle station a five minute walk from the Yellow Bird. If biking isn't your thing, a lot of desirable locations can be reached in a 20 minute walk or less including Fifth Third Field, The Schuster Center, The Victoria Theatre, the Oregon District, Neon Movies, Levitt Pavilion Dayton and many great independent restaurants. (Lock 27, Mudlick Tap House, Boston Stoker Coffee, Canal Street Deli and Arcade are all within a 15 minute walk from the house.) Parking is very easy here, so driving is as well. The highway is easily accessible; it’s only a few blocks away. I love Dayton and all its offerings and encourage you to get out and discover what this sweet City has to offer. And if you don't know what to do with your time here, check out my guide book, or just ask me what's good!

Hosting an Airbnb brings me a lot of joy. I like setting up the environment for people and sharing little things, like tomatoes from the garden, fresh flowers, or a new snack I found at the grocery. One of my favorite things to do is pick out a record and leave it on the turntable for guests in hopes that they'll listen and enjoy. I love it when I come back to different vinyl on the player because that means people have enjoyed some music. I have been a self-employed licensed massage therapist since 1998 and recently have changed my focus to hosting. I moved my office out of our Airbnb (i was splitting the use of the property) and put in a second bedroom. I’m excited to see where this takes me. I've lived, worked, and volunteered in the neighborhood since 2002 and it's an honor to be steward for such a special community. Dayton is abundant with independent offerings and innovations; I can't wait to facilitate your stay here. My husband and I walk a lot when we travel. We get to see a lot and we pop into whatever restaurant, bar, shop, adventure that interests us that way. We almost always sit at the bar when we're out of town so that we can talk to the bartender and get to know what the locals are up to. I like to relax, read, eat, and drink; preferably by the ocean. My favorite destination so far had been Kauai.
