Sehr sehr sehr sehr sehr gutes essen und die Umgebung ist wunderschön mit einem Wasserfall. Die Menschen dort sind sehr hilfsbereit und gastfreundlich, laden zu lagerfeuer und sticky rice bamboo ein. Die Häuser wirken in die Jahre gekommen aber der Aufenthalt war trotzdem wunderschön.

Joe is a great host. We felt very looked after by everyone and the volunteers who helped. You can add lots of activities to your stay. We went on the hike through farms and jungle and had jungle lunch cooked on the fire by Joe and the other guys. It was the highlight of the trip! The cooking lessons helped with bonding with everyone and felt nice to work together and then eat together. Lovely waterfall a short walk through the rice paddies is a nice place to bathe. Coco the dog and Lili the cat are also so sweet and love hanging out with the guests. The communal area is a nice place to read and talk. Thank you Joe for a fabulous time, we learned so much and loved staying with you. See you in England!

Staying at Spicy Villa was an unforgettable experience. The facilities are basic, but the location is wonderful. The huts are perched on the side of a hill with spectacular views across agricultural land, with water buffaloes and elephants a common sight. The people were friendly and enthusiastic, helping us with activities in the area. A local guide is highly recommended to make the most of the stay. The food was freshly prepared and delicious.

Had a great time at the Spicy Village. The place has great views and nice hosts - we loved how friendly volunteers and the tour guide were. Stay for dinner (food is great!) and chat about local life! Hike around (by yourself or take a tour) or take activities. getting there was a bit of a challenge (as mentioned by others) - it’s easy to get to the hill, but you don’t get directions for last couple kilometers where you have to ask locals and choose between a few intersections on rough rural road in the village. Keep in mind that this is a pretty touristy area, so you will not see true authentic Karen life - looks like everyone in the area switched to work with tourists which changed their previous way of life (you will have to travel much further to get see real authentic villages). You will see relatively big groups of tourists each morning coming to hike, see village or play with elephants. At the same time the cottages are great, the location is very scenic and it’s still very different and fun to be there. Basic in terms of comfort, but will be a great experience!
