The Local area Gordes is known for its historical castle, stone-paved streets, and beautiful scenery. It is full of excellent places to eat, from pavement cafés to fine-dining restaurants. Try the Tuesday market for little take-home gifts such as lavender or linens as well as local honey, sausage, or ham. The French countryside is there to explore and crossed by multiple hiking paths and bike routes. Some are gentle, some seriously challenging and all well covered by the local tourist information maps. And if you’ve got the luxury of time on your side for exploration, the celebrated cities of Arles, Nîmes and Orange are all reachable within 60-90 minutes.
