THE LOCATION: The house is very easy to find, only 2 minutes drive from the town center.
It is situated by a river (RIVER EIO) between a beautiful lake and the fjord of Eidfjord, located by the Hardangerfjord.
The HARDANGERFJORD is often referred to as the "QUEEN OF THE FJORDS" and this area is considered to be one of the loveliest in Norway with it's majestic fjord landscape.
THE NORWEGIAN CRUISE PORT EIDFJORD is one of the major cruise destinations in the country with 37 cruise ships to visit this year. One cruiseship may carry more than 2000 passengers, more than a double of the population of Eidfjord. These passengers in itself brings Eidfjord to life!
Though Eidfjord is just a small and peaceful village, it stands on the edge of huge scale attractions including the largest and highest mountain plateau (HARDANGERVIDDA) in Northern Europe and Norway's LARGEST NATIONAL PARK.
Eidfjord stands on the banks of the fjord, from which it takes its name, and has attractions of its own including a 14th CENTURY CHURCH and the largest collection of ancient graves in western Norway at its VIKING BURIAL PLACE.
A couple of miles away along the NATIONAL TOURIST ROUTE (6 minutes drive from my place) is the HARDANGERVIDDA NATURE CENTRE, which is an unusual adventure centre where there are excellent exhibitions of the rich natural, cultural and historical heritage of the region, an impressive panoramic film and a good restaurant.
Equally unusual is the TROLL TRAIN, which travels through the MABODALEN VALLEY (Canyon) to Norway's most famous waterfalls - VORINGSFOSSEN, which free falls nearly 500 feet. Of which both are also accessible by cars and a good hiking area.

EIDFJORD SHUTTLE BUSS is the most affordable bus ride to the magical waterfalls of Vøringsfossen! Just visit the website. THE LOCATION: The apartment is very easy to find, only 2 minutes drive from the town center. Just 20 minutes drive to Voringsfoss waterfalls, 1 hour to TROLLTUNGA starting point, 45 minutes to VOSS, 2.5 hours to BERGEN and 5-6 hours to OSLO. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CAR: Please note that the apartment is 15-20 minutes walk from the town center, also from the bus station. But there are bus stops a few steps from the apartment. The place is very accessible by car and busses as the National Road 7 is just by the front yard.
